Is anyone hearing the global hum right now

Well.. Taos New Mexico is kinda near the border with old Mexico.

So we all know that the Taos Hum is exactly what Ross Perot predicted: the sucking sound of U.S. jobs going to Mexico!

But that stills leaves all of these hums in Bristol, Wales, Northwest England, and Pensylvania, to explain!

It is pretty obvious that it is man made.

Construction on tunnels, secret, or non, does kinda make sense as an explanation. Construction going on underground stuff could sound a diesel truck idling around the corner. And it could be at some distant location with sound being transmitted through rock long distances.

I'm coming in on this a bit late, and I must admit I'd never heard claims of "global hum" before, and maybe this has already been discussed. But if there is a hum that people can hear, then it would be very easy to detect it using measuring instruments. Have such measurements been made, I wonder? It would be far more reliable than anecdotal claims of people "hearing" sounds that other people don't notice.

As a scientist I am always naturally inclined to be skeptical of claims of this sort. People can easily be deceived by tricks that the brain plays. For example, I hear a constant high-pitched whistle, but I know that it is just tinnitus and nothing is actually there.

This is a real sound. I have tinnitus as well. I think it has to do with something in the earth itself.

mebbe some folks' brains can "tune in" to the schumann resonance and relay it to consciousness? in any case, i was in a older building a while back, in the proximity to large air handlers in the guts of the building, and they were poorly damped or sized and as a result there was a palpable frequency somewhere between 8 and 16 cycles per second, that vibrated the air outside of me and the guts inside of me, in a most calming way. i love deep bass and it was bass heaven for me at that location. i wish i could can that sound/feel and replay it in my own tin can.

I don't.

All I constantly hear is the high pitched tinnitus that can completely deafened me from time to time.
If not, just more distant vehicles, appliances, the wind and human activity on the background. None of them are 'low' and 'soothing'.

How can magnetism be "heard"?

The Schuman Resonances are magnetic vibrations. Not sound vibrations.

I hear a "hum" all the time due to tinitus. But I don't notice it unless I think about it. Like now. Right now it is pretty loud.
