Your impulsive behaviour gets you into trouble.

You cannot read books because each sentence, or even each few words, sets off a long chain off thought that makes progressing with the book almost impossible. Even if that book is an excellent book about very late diagnosis of Autism. (The book is still only half finished and has been abandoned.)

You tend to stick to 10-20 minute you tube clips rather than watching anything longer.

You've lost your cash card in the house multiple times (despite having regular places where it should be kept) looked everywhere and been unable to find it, and ordered a new cash card, only to find the old one as soon as the new one arrives.

You couldn't finish your university assignments without the pressure of the deadline being 30 minutes away, or without taking speed the night before the deadline and staying up all night to complete them before the deadline.

People stare or laugh at you because you are so distracted by your thoughts that you are oblivious to them.

You drove like an absolute maniac when you were young just for the buzz of it.

You prefer a clean, neat, tidy and organised house, but are extremely seldom able to get it into shape.

You fail to arrange purchasing a new cooker for years, despite the old one being an absolute pain to ignite the oven, and being rusted to ****.

You need stimulants to get work done, unless you are very interested and motivated in that job or subject. This only happens very rarely.

You never follow up on Doctors reminders to arrange health checks.

You think that 4 months of furlough during the first Covid lock down was the best thing that ever happened to you, because you needed all that time to organise and achieve and get together a few simple DIY tasks around the home and back yard that had needed doing for years.

You hope to get useful things done over the weekends but instead end up spending the whole day on internet forums.

You forgot the the phrasing and tense of this post halfway through writing it, so had to go back and re-edit it once you noticed.

You always have to re-edit posts after impulsively posting them with loads of errors and bad wording that doesn't make sense.

8) I do both of these in the extreme. It's not uncommon for me to edit a post about 20 times after it's posted, before the time window ends. I dread the stamp.

You may be ADHD and ASD if your life feels like you have one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake at the same time. ADHD wants you to speed up but ASD is afraid of doing anything new.

I put a whole new spin on this one today.

Came in with sunglasses.
Went back out for real glasses.
Normally I just trade them and leave my sunglasses in the console.
This time I left my car keys in the console, and wore the sunglasses back into the house.
Forgot my real glasses.
The car door locked automatically with my keys inside.
I didn't even notice I went back into the house wearing sunglasses.
It took me a while.
Then, I couldn't find my keys to go out and switch glasses again.
I had no idea what I'd put in the car but I knew it was something.
Good thing I had a spare key in my purse, although that took me 10 mins to find too.

Winner winner.

You may me ADHD if you were very late putting your 2023 wall planner up and when you did you still missed out transferring important events over to the new planner. Meaning that you failed to remember that you had bought a ticket to go and see a band last week..

The missed experience and opportunity is quite annoying to say the least, not to mention the wasted money too.

You may be ADHD if you have great difficulty planning ahead in general and trouble with trying to organise things that span across 2 years. I have no organisational system that can cope with that for various reasons.

You spend $500 and come home without the receipt, even though they put it in your hand.
The shop doesn't have it either.

You hear the US anthem at the start of the Super Bowl, and think "Ohhh, what is that song?! I love that song ... "

You started making handmade Valentines for everyone you know irl.
You forgot to finish them or send them.
That's because you forgot to get stamps.
Also you wouldn't be able to find your address book if you tried.
And, you aren't sure where you put the half-made Valentines.
You don't want to look for them because then you'll have to tidy the materials.

You've rung your beau twice to say Happy Valentine's Day.
That's because you forgot the first call already happened.
That's because you don't know what day / time it is.
You'd see them later but you're too tired, from thinking about seeing them.

You stare at a small pot of water for 10 minutes waiting for it to boil.
You put a lid on it and move it around.
You discover you never turned on the heat.
You walk away and do it again because you forgot to turn on the heat.
Again.

Update:
You write this post and look again.
You've turned on the wrong burner.

At work, you go to the bookshelf to get something off the shelf. Once you get there, you forget what you went there for.

I’m having a lot of trouble with focus and organization at work.

...the hem in one of your favourite comfortable shirts has suddenly taken to itching the neck of your neck and now you're going to be distracted all day at work because of it but you also feel unhappy that it's suddenly itching.
