Should people with Aspergers be able to own guns?

If enforced safety is the issue, ban cars. They kill more people than guns.

My Algerian friend freaked out on being able to buy a gun at Walmart.

His comment was, if there were a quarter as many guns in my country, the shooting would never stop.

Europeans should not have guns, too much history of religious war, two big wars in the last hundred years.

Europe has to be run like a prison. They still kill each other, with knives and clubs.

Australians? I do not know. Drinking and fighting are something of a national pastime. Kangaroo attacks are rare, I think treat them like Europeans, it's their tradition. Like Canada, they have the Queen on their money.

America is based on not having a European type government. We put our faith in The People, and in conflict with the government they know we are better armed. It goes from County Sheriff up, do right, or face the wrath of the people. We have national gun laws, they work. No local is allowed to disarm the people and become King of the County, like Europe.

It is a balence between two evils, despotic government with all the guns, and a few guns falling into the hands of the wrong people. We punish them severly, not so much for the gun, but for breaking the trust put on them. Freedom can only be kept by a well armed people. Look at the Swiss, they bring Army rifles home, no mass murder, long term freedom. Look at street scenes in Israel. shopping for groceries with the automatic slung over the shoulder. No high crime and mass murder between them.

Our government does not have an army, they too are of the People. We do trust them.

I keep calling for a change. I would like the Commandant of the Marines to be elected Dictator for ten years. He can assign State Governors, It is in the Constituion which he will defend, uphold, and preserve for the people. We have the right to chose another form of government at any time.

Corruption has become deeply intrenched in 200 years, The Greeks and Romans had the same problem, a Dictator fixed it, and The People got another hundred years of self government. We would not have that choice if the government had all the guns.

We did not model our country on the King of England, the rights of man is not an outdated concept. It is a burden placed on The People, each generation, to stand, and die if need be, so that Freedom will not perish. We had the choice of any form of government, this one was chosen, not because it is perfect, but because it supports the rights of most people. It is in it's self a government that is a check against the worst of government.

It does get out of whack, and we do fix it.

I don't know what part of Europe you're talking about but going around clubbing each other? 2000 years ago maybe! And aren't ALL wars started/based on religion?

Europe is not that hardcore,many Europeans certainly do go around "clubbing",but it's something completely different altogether.
If Europe is run like a prison,where do they send all the bad people? New Orleans?

I have AS and own a gun. It helps that my husband is in the military and my father was a veteran police officer. I know how to safely handle and own a firearm, and learned to do so from a very early age.

Why the hell would someone need a gun unless they're hunters? No one, whether they're NTs or aspies, should be allowed to own a gun without a particularly good reason.

Well, I use it for self-defense as well as for sport shooting. Where I live, there's something called the "Make My Day" law, where it's considered legally justifiable to shoot an intruder into your home once they cross the threshold into the house. Since my husband's military duty often takes him away from home, it makes me feel safer. My husband and I also enjoy shooting recreationally.

My good reason for owning a gun is the Second Amendment. I have the right to legally own a firearm.

Soon the sweat shops of New England were the richest, immigrant labor from the lowest classes, worked seven days a week, morning to night, from the age of six. They were starved, cold, and worked to death, for replacements could be found in England. They were cheaper to transport than to breed. Slaves were treated better, they were worth something.

The goal of Europe, seems to be having two classes, one who owns everything, and good servants. The Lord gave up the Manor House when it was taxed, let the people support it's up keep, but kept the lands, and formed a corporation to avoid death taxes. When there are more people than they can use, like now, a war kills fifty million, and creates market demand for mercantile production, and guess who owns the factories for war, and for rebuilding.

We do not listen to words, but look at deeds. European overlords were going to make the planet their colony. We see history, it has not been going well, China, India, Southeast Asia, the Phillipines, Africa, British Mandates, French Mandates, the age of pirate looting is failing.

Now we live in the aftermath, whole peoples killed, cultures destroyed, forests cut, herds slaughtered, drought, dust storms, economic depression, dirty air and water, the oceans near dead, ugly, overcrowed, no education or health care, and a world where the flag and god are one, the dollar.

Human culture has other deeper and richer meanings.

In this world, being a rejected outcast is a good thing.

Someday, after much suffering, you will see that the values of all people, and all time, have a reality.

The rich have taken power before, it ended, those with guns have ruled, for a while.

Evil ends, and starts anew, good survives the worst of times, and grows in the best.

Stealing from the neighbors will not last, a culture that produces criminals, can be in denial, transport them, but like a person, if the roots are not dealt with, the problem returns.

To me, and many others, Europe had many advantages, much wisdom, but was still an abusive parent that left damaged children behind. You have taken me for everything I had, and left me on my own.

Where are the old forests that supported a web of life, flocks of birds that blotted out the sun for days in their passing, where are the 90,000,000 buffalo who kept the Great Plains covered in rich grass, why does the air smell bad, and hang like brown fog, why can I not drink from the streams, or see the stars at night, why have you torn down the temple the Great Spirit built?

What can I think? You hate life.

It is often put into English as, "Let the good times roll", but in French thought it is closer to Let the good times rule. Let good be the dominate thing in our time.

The guns you use to recreational shooting are (in many cases) different than the ones used for killing. Usually, burglars won't break into houses when there's people in them. And even if they do, it's still doesn't justify killing them. In the town where I live, there has been one homicide for the past 20 years, and it wasn't in self-defence...

I own a .32 Ruger SP-101, which is ideal for self defense and is fun to shoot. You are of course entitled to your opinion on the matter, however, I am still a proud gun owner.

ETA: I did have someone once try to break into my house while I was still home, just for the record.

My parents don't becuase they think I'd shoot whatever person offended me. Once a lady chased and grabed me because I was trying to save a snake her kids were threatning to kill. My mom says I probably would have shot her. If she saw me with a gun and if she had any kind of sence she wouldn't have gotten within foot of me.

Police are not legally obligated to protect citizens and a good chunk of them are less trained than a lot of private citizens.

Never mind guns, what about Capsicum Spray and Airguns for self defense! They're both at the same rank as a machine gun here in Australia!! !
