Horror/ Sci-Fi thriller =

[Insert freaky thing and its past here] it's trying to take over or possess [insert property, planet, etc here] and it will stop at nothing unless the main characters have a lot of ammo...or something to inflict pain... And don't forget lots of blood (red colored dye), gross looking props, etc...

Zombie = ammo fodder.

And yes a rather predictable storyline...

If you haven't guessed already, I'm not fond of them, unless there is something rather interesting... I can't think of the titles offhand. One of them being Dragonfly (which probably does not classify as a horror) I also like plots when a helpful creature helps save the character. I don't like the idea all [insert creature] are evil and there to either attack the human race or be fodder for ammo. Basically if I'm going to have to watch one, it better have a deeper theme to it than just being attacked by x creature... I like something to think about. Something with a hopeful message doesn't hurt. Round characters and sentient beings please.

I don't like being grossed out. I saw part of saw III??? It made me pretty sick to my stomach figuratively and I couldn't stand to watch more than about 30 min... There's only so much blood and guts I can stand to watch before I want to pull out my eyeballs from their sockets. (note the graphic description of disgust here)

My mom on the other hand finds horror movies entertaining. I get annoyed of hearing blood curdling screams in the background when I converse on the phone with her.

I love them. I usually cannot sit still through them, though, as I get very excited, so the whole time I'm readjusting myself in my seat, rocking back and forth, flapping my hands, bouncing my legs, standing up and sitting down, lol.

I love horror movies, they fall into the 2-3 year obsession category and I even went so far as to write a college classification paper about them for my english class.

Horror films have been my obsession for as long as I can remember. For some reason, they make everything better in my world.

Horror is fine as long as it's psychological and not tortureporn, I've never liked those with a lot of gore or torture in them because of empathy makes it physically tormenting to do so.

Agreed! The torture porn fad offers nothing appealing to me. They need to stop with the Saw and Hostel type movies and their many imitators. I like escapism found in more fantastical stories.

Horror films scare me. I do not like seeing people in movies hurt or screaming with the dramatic music, it makes me feel very bad. And paranoid.

From ages 5-13, the Rancor from Star Wars (likewise with The Last Starfighter, and the raptors from Jurassic Park) scared the crap out of me . . . it wasnt until i saw the series "Movie Magic" that it finally dawned on me. Nowadays, they dont move me much . . . unless its something so horrid that it sends a chill up my spine (recently saw Hellraiser and Hellraiser II . . . that made me squirm, but not really due to the monsters).

They never scare me, I just don't find fiction to be scary. I can still enjoy them but I never be scared.

I'm not really afraid of them or anything. It's like any other movie, actually.

I find it hard to watch anything now without shouting out at the screen when I find things too ridiculous to move on!

I don't think new movies with all the gore really do much. I am a sucker for a good zombie or vampire movie, though. Shaun of the Dead is one current favourite. How can you take being eaten by zombies too terribly seriously that way?

I agree. I watch very little of this type made past 1980. For people who like this stuff a search for videos on Google will let one download quite a few Al Adamson pictures.

I don't like them at all. I'd never go see one if you paid me. I don't like to be startled, and I don't like to see violence, or anything that usually goes on in a horror film.

Depends on the type of horror. Zombie films scare me more than others. And J-horrors usually have me second-guessing everything for quite a while afterwards. Most of the time I enjoy them. In fact the more they scare me the more I want to watch them again (hence the reason why I own all the original Grudge films)

Depends on how cheesy the horror movie is. If it's really cheaply made, it's more unintentionally funny than anything. But if the movie is serious and involves blood/zombies/chainsaws/screams/a lot of scary moments, I refuse to watch it. So mostly I can't stand them.
