I usually try not to for most of my foods but it depends what kinds of foods were talking about.

Sometimes, but more than often I don't. The foods have to be good combined, otherwise, it freaks me out.

I think making it an ASD or OCD thing is a bit over-generalized. I have a neurotypical friend who can't stand for food to touch.

I just don't care. My thing is that I have to have the same amount of everything on my plate. If there's a quarter of the salad left, there's going to be a quarter of everything else left as well. Including beverages.

Really? I don't know anyone who doesn't like food touching on the plate but I know a lot of people who like their gravy or other sauces in certain places on their plate. My brother hates gravy on his meat, he likes it on everything but his meat. I don't know why. I have my gravy all over, and I just put a dollop of apple sauce or other sauce anywhere.

I'd say it depends on the foods in question. If it is two things with very different sauces on them then yes, I do not like them to touch. However, if it is something like turkey and mashed potatoes that share the same gravy then I don't really mind.

Yes I do. My brother who is NT didn't like it touching so he would refuse to eat it and complain about it. But I think he has some sensory issues like acute sense of smell and taste because he was a picky eater and always complained about smells. We all just thought he was whining just to whine and was being stubborn so we ignored it and I used to make fun of him by calling him a whiner when I was eight. Then he grew out of that whining stage simply because he learned to get used to it and adapt.

However as a kid I would refuse to eat the food on my plate that touched each other but only eat the food and leave parts of it that touched. I also remember then I didn't like them touching so I tried to avoid it and if it happened, I just didn't eat the food that got mixed but ate the rest.

No.

Looks like the poll is 50/50, however.

Due to the fact that I'm always in a rush to finish eating, I just combine all the food on the plate that can be eaten as is (no chicken bones, peel, etc.) and shovel it in my face.

I used to do anything to prevent foods touching on my plate when I was a kid (then again, I was pretty picky about food in general when I was a kid), but I'm okay with it now. It's bound to happen, and I'm usually so hungry by the time I sit down to eat that I don't want to expend the additional energy making sure the foods are separate. I reason, "It's all going to the same place, right?"

none of my food can touch. One year for Christmas my friend got me a blue tray for like 3 year olds (with all the little separate compartments lol) as a joke.

If it has sauce, they aren't touching. If it doesn't, then I don't care. Easy peasy.

Depends. I prefer them separated but I can tolerate most foods touching...

Except lunchmeat and bread. You could say that I'm "allergic" to sandwiches. Just the thought of that wetness touching that bread makes me sick to my stomach...

I generally don't like different foods touching on the plate, but I have less of a problem with dry foods touching each other, like a piece of raw carrot accidentally landing on bread. That's perfectly OK with me. I tend to have separate plates/dishes for difficult foods and I put a small amount onto the plate at a time to reduce the risk. I love (mild) Indian food but I panic if I have curry and rice and the curry starts creeping towards the rice. If I fail to stop them coming into contact, I will still eat it but I would prefer that it didn't touch and I would feel disappointed if it did. :( I could never pile on different foods any old how, like I've seen other people do. I was much more extreme when I was little though.

I absolutely hate soggy bread too. I always take small bites of bread cos if I chew it for too long I start gagging and wanting to spit it out. It is most unpleasant.

Me too... the cross-contaminated bits first! =)

Oh, yes, this. THIS. I forgot to mention that I really don't like sandwiches either, for the same reasons you describe, corvuscorax. I do like tuna fish and tomato and mozzarella paninis, tho. Tomato and mozzarella paninis are one of my faves. :)
