I pace up and down the hallway across from my room near my parents room. Usually when I listen to music- I can get too much into it  .

I usually do it when I'm daydreaming.

Pacing while daydreaming can be a sign of Maladaptive Daydreaming. This is a condition that causes excessive daydreaming. The daydreaming is often elaborate and detailed, like a book or movie. Some people with this problem will pace, rock, shake thing in their hands, or do other forms of repetitive behavior while daydreaming. Here is a website about it:

Yes I do. I try not to though because I live above someone. But I have been doing it even more lately again.

I pace up and down the corridor in my house and read at the same time. I find I can concentrate much better on the book while I'm pacing.

[quote="MindBlind"]Yup, I'll pace when I'm anxious, annoyed, impatient or excited about something. Sometimes when I listen to music, I'll pace around the house because the music is so moving.[/quote

Yes, that's me. around the couch...to the bedroom...back....to the bathroom...back and forth all around the house. If anyone were to look in the windows they'd probably think I was a lunatic.

I do this almost every day, usually when I'm stressed, anxious, bored or impatient.

I remember I was unable to stay in place whenever my mother was having a conversation with someone. I had to move, or I'd get this pain in my legs and feet from standing for longer than 5 minutes.

Nowadays, I can go to the kitchen to get some snack or something to drink, or go the restroom. I have paced for no apparent reason as well, but it seems to calm one's nerves or get one's brain going.

Yup, I pace a lot. If I am doing something that doesn't require me to sit still, such as talking on the phone or brushing my teeth I'll probably end up pacing. I just finished a 1 hour discussion with a customer on the phone and most of that time I was pacing back and forth. I'm surprised I haven't worn a groove in the floor between my living room and bedroom.

Never mind, I need the exercise :)

All the time. Not just around the house either, and not just when I'm doing something else. Some people pace when on the phone or eating, I do it just by itself. I've started trying to quit by taking up running (this is day 1), but I can't go a day without at least an hour of walking in circles (usually outside, but also in my living room) bad days are around 4 hours. Wish me luck on quitting.

I used to years ago. My anxiety was at an all-time high back then, and I feel strongly that it was a side effect from the medication I used to be on. No longer having to live in a home or with my parents has probably helped, too.

Now my concern is that I no longer get enough exercise from all that pacing and walking. But nothing is worse than the anxiety and restless leg syndrome I had back then. :(

I do it a lot when I'm daydreaming or procrastinating. Less so when I actually have something I need to do. And not at all if there are people nearby.
