I did it from one of his books a while back and scored 31.

I agree with the others who question the validity of the test. Multiple choice and unlimited time are unrealistic, plus if these are people being told to look happy, pensive, etc., then how accurate is it? And if the photos are of natural expressions, how do they know the people are feeling what they say?

Of course, in real life I don't look at the face much - maybe a quick glance. I go more by body language and tone of voice.

There's a bias in society towards people with high visual skills - those of us who lean towards other learning modalities (auditory, tactile/kinesthetic) tend to be seen as less competent or intelligent. :(

I actually did get above 30 but I clicked the wrong answer on one. This is what I get for doing it with a migraine. WHO CAN I BLAME?

Anyway, I feel I'm better in person than on the test, mostly because the movement of people's eyes is so key.

On a side note, I think I have a genetic obsession with eyes. I used to think it was because I had bad eyes and thus became interested by all the ophthalmologist appointments I had growing up -- and no doubt that didn't help -- but my mom had the same damn thing as a kid. I'm not diagnosed anything, but my family has a lot of the symptoms of AS/HFA/ADHD/BPD, so maybe there's a correlation.

22! Actually I could not decode major part of the pictures and I just picked the less absurd one...
I´m not so good in real life... I have a real fear to look people in the eyes... don't know why. :?:

I got a 31.
I'm surprised.. you can't tell as easily online-- if the person is there in front of you, it's much easier to feel intuitively or just see.

Your score: 31
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30,
you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions
around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult. The correct answers for the ones you missed are:
10: cautious
12: sceptical
14: accusing
22: preoccupied
23: defiant

since i'm an animation major, i spent a lot of time learning facial expressions. plus, i'm a very visual person, anyways... so i can memorize stuff... but when you talk to a person in real life, their expression changes too quickly, and the expression for one emotion could be very similar to the expression of another.. i just picked what i thought was the least absurd one on some of them, too.

but... even looking at the pictures of these eyes were hard, for some reason.

Hmm. Most of the answers I chose, i chose because the others could not possibly be the answer and the answer i wanted was not there.

22 through a process of elimination. Shame time doesn't slow down or stop in real life.

5: worried (irritated)
6: fantasizing (impatient)
7: uneasy (dispirited)
10: cautious (bored)
15: contemplative (amused)

18: decisive (bored)
20: friendly (dominant)
22: preoccupied (imploring)
28: interested (affectionate)
31: confident (dispirited)
34: distrustful

My selections are in parentheses.

Inverted Bladerunner...interesting...

I scored 35, the one I missed was

13 Anticipating - I had it as "shy" but was conflicted between the two...

Thing is...don't suppose anyone bothered to factor in the reality that yer average elder Aspie decodes two dimensional facial expressions (from TV, photos, movies) WAY better than 3 dimensional ones (from actual people)? And 50 years practice at "passing for normal" in front of mirrors (till I get it RIGHT) can really hone that skill...

IRL I may "get" the facial expression...but what it relates to, or what to do about it...is another matter...

...and 9 times out of ten, "who's face it is worn upon" is a lost cause... :(
