I think it would be nice to live in a commune. I don't like the American culture anymore. The food is toxic, all I see is stores and streets, cars are everywhere, gas is expensive, commercialism is a form of brainwashing. Does anyone else here feel this way? I would like to live in a better world. I'm thinking of a star trek environment where everyone specializes in something and we work together. I don't like the old hippy ways though. They sort of annoy me for some reason. Does the thought of living a simpler life appeal to anyone else out there?

I suppose this is not a completely autistic thing to realize that the way the things are being handled in this world is full of s**t. The last ones who tried to get rid of the s**tiness of the society / culture / economics / capitalism(maybe) were the hippies.
Maybe you want to start something similar. But beware. if you come up with a good idea, maybe all the NT's will rush in too.

Lately I've observed me myself and some other people assuming that their problems with the humanity and human condition is somehow tied to their neurology / utterly unique personality / illness (I have many of them and go to many other forums and pages), WHILE THIS IS ACTUALLY TOTALLY NOT THE CASE, and their problems or complaints are rather universal or widespread among people from completely different groups. Don't attribute everything to your diagnosis.

Your wish for a with better functioning or kinder or more compassionate or more fair or friendly and morally correct utopia is very appropriate and it has nothing to do with autism or anything.

Possibly Aspie (diagnosed by an autism expert, doc moves abroad, forced to change docs and all say it's schizophrenia NOS or schizo-affective disorde or personality disorders. initial doc was a colleague of uncle Simon btw. you do the math.). (edit: by Uncle Simon I mean Simon Baron Cohen. Just to clear things up.)

Even though one of my best friends is also autistic. No, there are lots of autistic/aspie people who I don't get along with. Also, I'm not trying to be mean at all, but it would be better if it was only people with aspergers, because I feel very uncomfortable around severely autistic people. Btw, sorry if I offended anyone.

Old thread, but so long as it wouldn't get in the way of me adopting, I'd totally live in that.

I think I'm a little too old fashioned to live in any commune. I know that I would be laughed out of such a building. I mean old fashioned by respecting war vets around the world and wearing a helmet to show my support. Commune people don't want to see anything that reminds them of war or the 40s.

No.

A poll would have made this easier, especially since it's a recurring theme in the forum.
