Geeze...no need for evil angry smileys and exclamation points. You are free to think whatever you like about my thoughts on police...just as I am free to think them. Image ...and I don't recall saying they were saints.

The two incidents that stand out most in my mind is firstly the time I was hitchhiking across Texas and tried to walk across an overpass in the middle of the night in a major city.

A police car pulled up (luckily with their lights off) they got out, told me it was illegal to walk across an overpass. I informed them I didn't know that and after a bit of conversation I guess they figured out I wasn't dangerous just trying to get somewhere and tired and hungry so they gave me a ride as far as they could (they couldn't leave their patrol area) in the direction I was trying to go and bought me some food at a resturant.

They were very nice friendly and helpful people.

The second story that comes to mind is when I was late to work one morning and jaywalked across the street and was seen by a nearby cruiser.

These guys on the other hand were very aggressive and suspicious. I'm naturally afraid of emotionally unstable and unpredictable people (most "normal" people) with guns so my legs were shaking while they gave me the third degree about who I was where I was going etc.

They started accusing me of being on some pretty serious drugs ("Are you on PCP?") which just made me more nervous. Eventually though they let me go about my business with a warning but it wasn't a pleasant experience and could easily have gotten much worse.

there seem to be two types of cop: those who get into policing because they feel protective towards other people and want to stop 'bad guys' from hurting others, and those who like the power trip and want a sanctioned outlet for their bullying.

It's all about the status quo. My advice is to get an attorney if you can afford to pay for it yourself. If you qualify for legal aid, go to them. If you fall through the cracks and can't get an attorney then go to the Public Defender (or possibly the District or County Attorney) and ask for a court appointed attorney. They will say you must be charged with a crime in order to get an attorney appointed for you. Then you ask them what exactly you can do if you are charged with a crime and you need an attorney. Don't let them brush you off. You have a right to know the procedure. It might cost you something unless you're incarcerated in which case they have to give you an attorney. If you want to fend off trouble before it arrives at your door an attorney is absolutely essential.

The irony is, Papillon, these people (neighbors) were much more of a threat. If only you knew what they were like but they were so good at manipulating others (including the police) they didn't get bothered as much (that I could tell). Maybe they did get bothered and I just didn't notice it? They are mental cases (with generational schizophrenia on both sides of the family) with all kinds of criminals in their family. Just a bunch of paranoid low lifes. They would send some of the criminals who were visiting them from time to time over here in the middle of the night with strange stories about how they needed to use the phone because they had "car trouble". They just wanted in the house, I saw thru this and said my phone was broken.

All this and the police were suspicious of me? Oh! The irony! They were your basic paranoid schizophrenic thinking everyone's out to get them, to do things to them, sneaking around their yard at night ( I never did that for fear of getting shot) destroying their credibility.
(the only ones doing that were them)
I had to put up with this throughout my childhood and they only moved when I started calling the police on them. You see, that is the last thing I want to do to anyone, call the police. I just want to live in peace with everyone and I do not use the police to harass people with just because I want to cause them psychological anguish. But these people were becoming so paranoid they were really worrying me. I even called the local mental hospital (it's kind of nearby) and requested a bunch of pamphlets be sent to their address hoping they would take the hint. This isn't normal behaviour for me but they were delighting in driving me completely nuts. No offence to anyone reading this who has a mental illness. I am not trying to offend you, just stating what happened to me.

I had been pushed and pushed and pushed and only after I did something I hate doing unless it's really an emergency, they moved away. Guess they had something to hide anyway *shrugs* why else would they move so quickly. I have lived next to them since the age of eight and had never called the police before.

Ha-ha. Thanks. They, however, moved and I want no more problems.

Yeah, sorry for the delay.
Some of them have been having problems with their bus passes.

You don't need a bus pass to email or phone; Or it seems, make threats of violence. Make that call...

A lot of them are troglodytes. They must go through an awful lot of Neet to keep themselves looking like normal humans.

Hey Ana I would have liked to meet these goons. Could they be the same ones I'm dealing with? From what you're saying here, they sure fit the description. Maybe I'll describe them to you and we'll see if we have a match
