To me, his eyes say "I'm gonna kick your butt!"

You correctly identified 57% of the expressions. For each emotion expressed, your score is as follows:

Joy: you correcly identified 3 of 4
Fear: you correcly identified 1 of 4
Disgust: you correcly identified 2 of 4
Surprise: you correcly identified 4 of 4
Anger: you correcly identified 2 of 4
Sadness: you correcly identified 2 of 4
Contempt: you correcly identified 2 of 4

It would be interesting to know what a "typical" result is. The members of this site seem very likely to score in the 40-60% range - I assume we would do worse than the "average" group of people though.

I will say I found a lot of the joy and surprise pictures very exaggerated and easy. The others were mostly fairly confusing. I can visualize a facial expression for joy (big grin) or surprise (wide open eyes and mouth) but e.g. it is hard for me to imagine what fear is supposed to look like on someone's face.

Possibly that too. Kind of falls under "don't mess with me".

I had my NT family members try it and they didn't score any better than me.

This is another one I don't get. The meaning I think of when I see this face isn't one of the listed emotions. To me it looks like this face is saying "I'm displeased with you", "you've disappointed me", or maybe "I'm in a bad mood don't mess with me". If I have to choose it seems like an even toss-up between anger and sadness. I know that when I pull that kind of a face I'm a bit more angry than sad. Why is the correct answer sadness rather than anger?

i guess hes not "angering" his eyebrows..

I sent this to two "typical" non-autistic people and one did worse than me at something like 40% and one did just slightly better at 56%. Context is very important in reading facial expressions.

I thought this one was going to be easy, but it wasn't. Seems like some big ones I missed. :?

46%

Here is where the problems were:

image was contempt, you answered anger
image was sadness, you answered anger
image was anger, you answered joy
image was fear, you answered surprised
image was joy, you answered surprised

I had my oldest daughter and husband take this as well. My husband is dx'd ADHD, and my daughter has aspie traits and tests gifted. (but is not dx'd with anything)

They both scored 46% as well. The difference being, they messed up on anger and contempt mostly. I messed up on all the obvious ones. LOL

Did anybody else just have to guess? Half of those pictures didn't look like they were expressing any emotion at all. They just looked like they were standing there. My score was 57% which makes me feel a little left out because it's higher than most of you others who posted. Next time I think I'll cheat so I can do worse and fit in more.

You correctly identified 43% of the expressions. For each emotion expressed, your score is as follows:

Joy: you correcly identified 3 of 4
Fear: you correcly identified 0 of 4
Disgust: you correcly identified 3 of 4
Surprise: you correcly identified 1 of 4
Anger: you correcly identified 0 of 4
Sadness: you correcly identified 3 of 4
Contempt: you correcly identified 2 of 4

That was interesting; too bad these are faked facial expressions.

And would someone please inform the owner of the site how to spell, "correctly".

I seem to think everyone is looking with contempt or surprise =(. I find this test extremely frustrating.

You correctly identified 50% of the expressions. For each emotion expressed, your score is as follows:

Joy: you correcly identified 3 of 4
Fear: you correcly identified 0 of 4
Disgust: you correcly identified 1 of 4
Surprise: you correcly identified 3 of 4
Anger: you correcly identified 1 of 4
Sadness: you correcly identified 2 of 4
Contempt: you correcly identified 4 of 4

You correctly identified 57% of the expressions.

Guesswork rules!!
As per the original Eckman (sp?) ones, half the time if indigestion/constipation had been an available option I would have picked that, and thus got a lower score (but I'd have been happier with the test)
