Yes, very fast, and I deliberately bump into people who are in the way (I mean the stupid ones who take up the whole sidewalk like no-one else exists but them.)

Everyone always tells me I walk fast. I do it because I see no reason to walk slow. Or slow-er for that matter. If x > y, then why walk at y speed when you could walk at x speed? Makes no sense to me. I've had a few people tell me that I walk like a "creepy stalker" I dunno if that's related or not.

Quite often when I'm walking behind someone they keep turning back and looking at me, then sometimes walk quicker and quicker. I automatically walk quicker because I generally like to walk as quick as possible but don't really like overtaking people (it makes me feel like they're watching me and I'm not comfortable with the way I walk.) Do they think I'm stalking them?

Probably, if you adjust your pace to theirs, it is not what the average person would expect.

I don't like it when people walk behind me either, so I always stand aside to let them pass. If someone is right behind me I will stop abruptly just to annoy them.

Aha, there is another. *Felt "left out" by all the fast walking aspies/auties*

I do, but I don't want to look like I'm hurrying, so I take very long, slow-looking strides.
I don't mind if other people walk slow though. I'll slow down too, there are always things to look at.

b9: lmao, great cake story.

I love a brisk walk! It is especially annoying to have to accommodate the way people walk in the South. Most of them do this meandering, slow walk, with plenty of time to stare at anyone moving purposefully. :x

Why? Not criticizing, just curious.

I was told just this week that I walk fast by a co-worker. At work, I'll be going 3x quicker than customers as I go about my tasks. I've noticed that when I'm out, people stare at me when I walk. I think it is because in part, it looks suspicious if you're in a store or something and you're zooming around. As if you've stolen something and are making a break for it. I guess the assumption is, if someone is walking fast, they're being pursued. I dunno. I know there was another thread about aspies having a distinctive walk, but from this thread, it seems like maybe our speed is different as well. I do think that it is due in part to us feeling the need to avoid people. If you're walking quickly past someone it doesn't seem as strange that you're avoiding eye contact. Unless it's my first time seeing the person that day, or unless I have something urgent to tell them, I avoid eye contact. I don't look at my feet, I either look to the side if I'm going past windows, or I look at the ceiling. It's funny because sometime I'll see the other person following my gaze to see what the hell I'm looking at (which is usually nothing).

I just seem to move my body slower than the average person; I tend to move like a sloth in many ways. I prefer it too, as seeing people walk around fast makes me anxious (visual processing disorder), and I feel anxious when I do such too (fast movements of my limbs and the landscape moving by faster).

I like slow and steady.

O, and I also have to step over cracks on the floor/ground, so speed kinda makes that harder too.

When I am not walking, I move slowly.
When I am out in public, I tend to walk quickly and also bump into things...I dart around at my own pace, which is fast...Hanging out with my family, we each seem to go at our own pace...I usually speed out ahead of my parents..

I usually walk quickly. If I am in a hurry I run.

I hate wasting time so I want to arrive at school as late as possible so I leave really late and walk as fast as I can (that isn't running) and arrive at school just about on time so that I don't get into trouble.

I walk slowly and clumsily, often bumping into things. Apparantly it's an Asperger thing. :)

That's funny, cause the other day I was waiting in a bus shelter, and this guy came in. He immediately sought eye contact, which I of course, avoided, by staring up the street. He craned his neck trying to see what I was looking at. I guess from an NT viewpoint, what could be more interesting than making meaningless eye contact, or initiating meaningless conversation?

I tend to walk fast, mostly because I'm ar about being late.
