Cats, they are quieter which I like and they are much easier to take care of. A cat's best selling point is how neat it can be.

I like both cats and dogs, but I'd prefer a cat. :)

I like them both, but cats are lower maintenance. I've never had a dog myself, but it seems like it would make up for the inconvenience by being more interactive than a cat.

PS Aimless: cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute. D:
edit: ack I just noticed the evil cat. XD XD XD lol

I would like to like dogs, but can't deal with the smell of them. We had a lovely border collie but I never could make much fuss of him because of the stink the poor thing generated. If I could get rid of my sense of smell, or find a dog that likes daily baths that would be ideal

I have a cat, bought for me years ago because he was the ugliest kitten in the pet shop. He is almost always silent-no mewing- and purrs very quietly, and usually prefers to be near than sitting on you- unless I am very upset -which is when he follows me around and sits on me. He's also agoraphobic...seriously.

cats, I've been bitten by 5 dogs, so I'm a little on edge when there is one around (I call it my founded fear)- been bitten by a jack russell, golden retriever, chow, german shepherd/rottweiler and a mutt, so yeah definitely prefer cats, although I can't really have them because I am so allergic to both (everything about them), if I get bitten I will go into anaphylactic shock- that being said a dying neighbour asked us to take one of her cats, and she's allowed in the house, but the basement only (basement has 2 bedrooms, rec room, bathroom and laundry room- so she's not totally deorived), and I like her alot

I deplore mankind's domestication of wild animals.
As a kid I had dogs, hated cats because they killed my birds and I am allergic to them and recently have grown allergic to dogs too.
I hate them barking, don't let me sleep.

I prefer the wolf and the puma or any other wild felines except for the human feline. I prefer the lion to the lioness.

I prefer cats. I like their independence. In a world where half the time I feel like I can't rely on myself, I've learned not to have pets that rely on my heavily. We have 3 cats and a parrot. Our first two cats are now 10 & 14, and honestly, to me, they are the two most boring creatures I've owned... but since I prefer their nature, we added a siamese to the mix for entertainment. He's a year old now, and he's definitely a dog/cat.... but he's still great being left unattended for long periods of time (work, school, holidays etc.)

Its interesting the way that so many autistics like cats, when I saw this question on a NT forum the results were 100% dog.

Could it be due to the fact that a man liking cats is considered gay in the NT world, many men who did would lie and say dog instead?

It's probably due to the fact that many NT's like animals that are more extroverted and easy to figure out.

I'm a dog person. I like cats, mostly other peoples cats, but if I was going to get a pet i'd a get a dog. As my dad puts a cat will use it's litter box than hop up on your counter or table, gross.

I grew up with a dog, a german shepard and collie mix (apparently some doberman in the ancestry as well). The best thing I remember was for some reason when pretending to be frightened of one of my dads friends, my dog was right there between me and him growling away. Otherwise this was the sort of dog that wouldn't hurt a fly. She let little kids rough and tumble all over her. She had amazing amounts of personality, and was amazingly affectionate.

Cats to me always felt as though they just kinda put up with you. You're a handy warm lap for them to lie in if no sunbeam is available. Though I've been bitten and scratched by cats several times, I've never been bitten by a dog.

I trained my cat to keep off the counters, by placing a small amount of essential oil in a dish on the counter. She found it highly offensive, and stopped jumping up there. Even when I no longer placed the oil there, she lost interest.

And, to be honest, dogs can do equally gross stuff. Like licking their rear end, and then licking you. Or, both cats and dogs can transmit worms to their owners, by sleeping on their beds.

I am a dog person. I have been around them my whole life, and they are so much more fun to be around. You can run with them, you can play with them, you can do a lot of things with them that you can't do with a cat.

One great dog I grew up with was a German Shephard that my uncle had. Whenever we called it, she would come up to us, and we would run around our backyard, and Dad would run with it, pretending as though we were going to get her. She was a lot of fun. :D
