Also:

* You would rather leave a room of toddlers and little kids trying to involve you in there imaginary play and work on an animation software program instead.

* Even though your favorite TV show had its final episode a long time ago, you still watch it today.

* You only go into a mall to go to the store that has what you want to buy, purchase it, and immediately leave.

* You have all of the DVDs where your favorite character from a TV show appears but you still go to Wikipedia an go to the article with that character to see if there is anything new about it.

If you just happen to know that the average golf ball has 336 dimples.

If you look forward to seeing all the enhanced features on your DVD of the movie Four Minutes. I saw an interview with Roger Bannister, and it was great. He looks younger than his 77 years.

Whwn you just used a calculator to do a bit of math you easily could have done internally, because you lack the confidence to accept your answer - even though you never miss things like that.

You want the various idiosyncratic behaviors listed in this forum developed into a comprehensive survey. The purpose of the survey is to determine the statistical likelihood of each of the behaviors from votes by forum members, along with a control NT population to identify what behaviors are non specific to AS, along with variation in likelihood from AS to NT populations. (and this sentence was too long so was edited prior to post).

You have a nickname that is deliberately mispelled as that way it sticks painfully in your mind and you can't forget it that way.

You worry that, as you read this list, you may find a number of "you might be" items that do not appear to apply, and that you might be mistaken in thinking yourself an Aspie. And then some of the ones that do apply don't seem unique to Aspies, just shy or other folks, so what is an Aspie then? Still, reading down a few lines, read one that is spot on.. and relax.

You read that joke line above that said someone kept reading just so the joke that Aspies will read this through in one sitting would be true.. and then realized that, for you, being Aspie means that is too easy an approach, and an even more Aspie way is to note down exactly where you finished reading, not close the window, leave it scrolled to the finish point, do your chores, eat, and in every spare moment you steadily read thru one by one, making separate notes and comments in a separate Wordpad window for each item that particularly catches your eye.

Seriously dudes, is there somewhere on this forum where this is done more than anecdotally? Where people list their behaviors or hit a checklist? And a separate forum with AS coping skills for the workplace? Seems to me like, while we are amusing ourselves, we could also move forward the knowledge and reseach tasks for AS?

T

You might be Aspie if you read this entire thread to ensure that your post would not be a duplicate!

You might be an aspie if when you first come here, you have no idea how this new site works, and you spend hours trying to just post one single thing!

HAHAHAHA!! !
That's the reason why I never posted!! !
Because:
You might be an Aspie if you never posted because to do so you would have to read the entire thread to make sure it isn't a duplicate, and then you have to weigh the want to post vs. the time to read the entire thread, but you don't have enough interest/attention span to read the entire thread so you don't bother to post, because someone has probably already said whatever it was that you wanted to post anyways........
Hey...thanks, P_A!
You got me to post!

For other aspie-girls here:

You might be an aspie if you'd rather stick a fork in your eyeball than go to the mall

;^) I couldn't resist...

For everyone:

You might be an aspie if you move to the other side of the street when you see people walking your way on the sidewalk

You might be an aspie if you don't mind wearing the same clothes (you know, those favourite jeans you have with the stains on them and the holes all over?) day in and day out

You might be an aspie if you do vector calculus (or look up the origins of random words) for fun (!)

You might be an aspie if you are posting on WrongPlanet.net ;^)

You might be an aspie if you freak out when your boyfriend hugs you "without permission"

You might be an aspie if you take a book to a party and finish it by the time you leave without speaking to another member of the group attending the party

You might be an aspie if you speak to air more than you speak to your friends/family/neighbors

You might be an aspie if you understand animals more than you understand NT's ;^)

You might be an aspie if you know what an NT is ;^) ;^)

You might be an aspie if you drive like you're 71 when you're 17

You might be an aspie if you have been told that you drive like you're 71 when you're 17...

to be continued at a later time...

AspieGirl,

I identify with a lot of what you said. I hated the mall. The only stores I wanted to go to in the mall were the bookstore and record store, in line with my obsessions. Also, I liked the Hallmark store where cat figurines were sold.

I also relate to animals, particularly cats, far better than I do to people.

if you talk to elk and they listen to you

same for coyotes, deer, crows, ravens, hawks, bunnies

if the neighbor's cat (who doesn't like anyone) comes up to you
