I am so happy to see other females who liked playing with insects, sticks and rocks.....my favorite toys!!Before I learned about AS and after I had pretty much ruled out that I was an alien...I thought that I would like to have gene testing to see if I had some genetic predisposition relating to feeling more male then female.AS makes more sense then that considering that a "male" gene would probably give me more body hair....I have hardly any....another reason I use to consider I was "alian"....hardly any furry alians except for Chibaka and tribbles...lol

I've always been a tomboy as far back as I can remember, and although I was given "girly" toys, I preferred more boyish toys, and badly wanted an Action Man toy (my parents never let me get one, though. :P ). I also played with boys most (one of whom is still one of my best friends), and at one point even asked my parents if I was really a boy instead of a girl.

Now, I've developed a tolerance for some feminine things (eg. jewellry, which I adore, although part of the attraction is that I find jewellry great for stimming when I'm stressed :P ), although I'm still a tomboy. I prefer wearing boys' t-shirts, and in general tend to act more boyish than feminine. My Mum even joked once that I "should have been born a guy", which I actually found pretty cool. :)

Yes I have AS and was always considered to be a tomboy as a kid, although now I would like to just consider myself a human.

uh what the hell? so you'd enjoy being a girl rather than a boy? i wouldn't want to be a girl.
Sometimes you need to take a step back and think before you type, waterdogs.

Like you I'm a female opposite. I took the same test and they say that I'm more boyish. Not that I don't like being a girl I just don't understand most other girls. Plus they don't think I'm "girly" enough. I just have male like motives to do stuff like well... like on Jackass and Viva La Bam and try skateboarding. Like a guy I'm as tough as one and have an usually high tolerance to psycial pain but am cursed to emotional sensitivity (hate it btw). I have friends that are girls but alot are boys.
Ha! I like girls who are like that! (oh, that's right, you already ARE my buddy :D )

Hmm, gnulinuxman, so would you say you fall into the personality type of a Japanese bishounen? Like, you know how in Anime they have more feminine looking guys, who act sort of feminine, but aren't considered outright gay?
I wouldn't know because I don't watch anime. :?

I'm male and straight, but I don't have much in common with a lot of men. Or rather, I FEEL as though I don't. I'm not exactly girly either.

My two closest friends are both girls. I prefer the way that girls talk with their close friends - it feels much more open and honest than male conversation.

I wouldn't say I was a tomboy but I'm definitely not a 'girly' girl. I find 'girly' conversation very dull indeed. It is important to me to appear somewhat feminine but I don't wear flowers and frills.

The diagnosis rates are very different males:females (10:1) but the occurrence rates are probably closer to those in Autistic Disorder of 4:1, according to Tony Attwood.

Sadly, most professionals don't have the experience to back up their talk. Many are still under the delusion that a person with an ASD can't comprehend humor or anything symbolic whatsoever. If they only spent a day browsing online auty forums they might learn a thing or two about real ASDs and not the ones outlined in textbooks...
