Umm...who is he?

I haven't heard about it on the mainstream press, so if it was a serious consideration it would be all over the news right now and it isn't. The only reason why Asperger's is being thrown up now is because some pathetic mommy with an autistic who is looking for attention is crying "Autism did it," and she should just be ignored.

He shot congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford last Saturday. She's alive with a brain injury. He killed 6 other people including a 9 year old girl and wounded a bunch more.

most schizophrenics are like that, and only the worst case of aspergers is. most people on the autistic spectrum want friends. the media is only concernd about ratings

I've known people with schizophrenia who want friends and hate being alone. I've seen them go out and talk about their ideas with others, trying to find common ground or wow people with the strangeness of their thoughts. It's a myth that schizophrenics do not want friends. It depends on if they are catatonic or not.
Besides, Loughner doesn't sound like a schizophrenic and according to CNN interviews, he had friends.

ok well, I have a grandmother who is schizophrenic and she doesnt want friends. So i purely base whatever I say with my own experiance. it could be different

This is the evidence that someone can be crazy and logical at the same time (the video is full of syllogisms that are extremely logical but... absurd at the same time)

Does anyone else find it annoying that so much attention is being brought to this guy and his potential mental illness that the Arizona government has actually considered reevaluating their mental health programs? Wow I cant believe that all it takes to bring mental health to awareness is a guy shooting up a Congresswoman. I don't recall half as much attention brought to this issue when Eric and Dylan killed 12 kids at Columbine or when Cho killed over 30 at VTech.

Nope it doesn't matter when kids shoot up kids in schools. It's all about politics. Shoot one and finally people start caring. Just insane, yet typical, isn't it?!

But that's just a Youtube video. Many Youtube videos are produced to be weird on purpose, to make them interesting, so people will notice them. There are so many videos on Youtube, sometimes, people give theirs an edge to be artsy or to get people to pay attention to them. The Youtube video alone is meaningless in terms of whether or not Loughner can be declared incompetent due to mental illness.

You should ask the cop who stopped him last Saturday morning if he was insane.

loughner plannned EVERYTHING! It took at LEAST several days, and evidence suggests it may have beenn YEARS!

He WANTED to kill people, and he obviously knew the police could have killed him, and basically hoped they would. He DID give his last goodbyes. This was NOT a spur of the moment thing. It wasn't even the first chance he had to kill giffords. So to say it was due to AS, autism, or only some malady, doesn't fit.

It WAS premeditated, planned, and KNOWN to be something that would involve the police, etc... He KNEW right from wrong. SO, even if he WERE insane, even under current laws, he should be convicted.

He might have planned it, but I still think insanity is a factor. you dont think this strikes of madness?

What the media has said is Loughner saw Congressman Giffords at a congress on the corner session in 2007 and asked a question which she answered. He is reported to have disapproved of the answer but it is questionable if he was planning this since 2007. He simply saw her in person that year and asked her a question.

One good question is: if he was doing this because he is delusional and obsessed with Congresswoman Giffords, why did he decide to go on a rampage and gun down everyone else at the congress on your corner meeting? That sounds more like he was aiming at her and supporters, not just her. If he were obsessed with her and that was it, he wouldn't have killed her supporters as well.

If you put that in the context of the internet it's not that unusual. There's all kinds of stuff like that on the internet. You could compare it to dadaism.

Or it could just be bat s**t crazy.

I wouldn't doubt that he is an aspie, but I think that he has a severe mental illness. I heared that he has schizophrenia.
