I sat back staring into the void, trying to avoid unadvertedly staring at someone else. To this day, I continue doing this whenever I'm at a public place without anything better to do.

I often found myself sitting under stairs getting bored and waiting to go home, or in the music department getting bored and waiting to go home.

Either I tried to eat away from people, or not eat at all, or at some point I just walked home for 15 mins, eat for 15 mins then walk back to school for 15 mins (we had 45min lunch breaks.

I just sat at the table in the dining hall with people randomly sitting with me who actually were not embarrassed about sitting with me.

Don't know if you saw my post, but that is what I did. I had less time to eat though, it was more just walk home and then get inside grab a granola bar and turn back around because that's all I had time for and just wanted to kill the lunch hour. My god I hated high school, worst period of my life.

I went to a college prep high school (Punahou) so we had college style schedules....sometimes I went to my schools snack bar and cafeteria alone if I had nobody to eat lunch with. Other times my friends and I would go up to the snack bar and find other ppl we knew sitting around and joined them. My 7th and 8th grade years were more solitary, I went to the cafeteria to get food and brought it back to some of my teachers classrooms to eat....I ate alone those years. once I started getting active with sports my social life picked up and did a 180.

I was really lucky that I had the guts to train, run and practice everyday and play for he football team...otherwise id probably still be a lonely wreck. My teammates liked my quiet determination and began to invite me to parties and other social events. At the parties and out of school gatherings I eventually got to meet and become friends with the 'popular kids', athletes and the hotties. At first I was painfully shy around these 'high school social elite' but I opened up and a lot of people said they were glad they FINALLY met me officially and found that I was a really good guy....a lot of people seemed to think I was weird before that because they remembered me in 7th-9th grades as a loner. After 10th grade I was a different person- more confident, better shape, friends, girlfriend....I ate with popular/hot people after 10th grade. Being accepted into the clique of football players really changed my life

Maybe I should make an arrangements with one of the staff members ( math department ) to either sit near their office to eat , or eat in the library due to social anxiety , sensory issues and people approaching me to talk. But first I need to tell them the true story , that I often snuck in with my lunch to eat at the cubicles privately and ate outside by myself. You just don't know when some ape decides to pick on you.

It was all about avoiding the bullies as best I could! I am not much of a fighter as I am too timid, so I had to take evasive measures instead.

I fell in with a good group of guys in eighth grade, and then they got rid of me the next year. So I just spent my meals at high school by myself. The vast majority of my meals at college were like that, too.

Usually I just sit around listening to music, or talking to friends. Most of the time I spaced out and stared at the wall for the whole of the break, thinking nonexistant thoughts.

I never went. You had to buy lunch-tickets and somehow I was not able to do even that part. So I never ate at school. I also didn't eat the sandwiches I brought from home. To me, they were just abstract forms and colours (a problem, that I still have with food and I am far underweighted).
So I was spending the time outside alone. I was also scared to go into that big cafetaria, I guess it was due of getting overloaded and being scared of people. And: I don't know, if some of you experienced this as well: I was always scared to get lost in this big schoolbuilding. We always had to change the room and I was always scared I couldn't find the one I was supposed to be - untill my last day of school.

My high school had an open campus, so, living only a 10 min walk away, I always went home for lunch. Where I would engage in my aspie obsession at the time of watching the weather channel.

Open Campus.

You could eat in school, go home, or out.

Authur Treacher's Fish And Chips.....Mmmmmm I miss these much -- (they're out of business). Arby's, Ronald Mcdonald, and Dunkin Doughnuts-- they had good soup.

For 4 years everyday at each one different.... by myself.

Got something from the vending machine and sat on the benches underneath the staircases, about 200 yards from the cafeteria.

When I actually went to the Lunch Room to eat during my lunch period, i usually just got my food, ate it, and sat alone until the bell rang and it was time go to class.

Most times I went to the Library to read magazines, catch up on HW I didn't do the night before, watch a movie (Yes, sometimes the Library at my HS showed movies.) or just relaxed until it was time to leave.
