The new AS Test (Among the best I've seen)
I noticed that it was impossible to do the test anonymously using Intenet Explorer 7 (it went back to the same page when I clicked the "Don't Allow" button), but quite possible to do it anonymously using Firefox. I didn't do it, but I think I'd have scored about 50.
I agree about those questions that begin "do people think you are......" - as if people are always telling me what they think of me.
71/72 and I'm more of an extrovert. I admit I was very surprised I scored so high, I didn't think the test would be good at picking out innate characteristics over visible external traits (which I don't show a lot of, apart from routine type stuff).

Okay, but I'm warning you, none of the NTs are telling me! Even though people here like to divulge their scores here (Because, I assume that's a part of the local culture), it appears that either all the 77 viewers uptil now either A) Didn't take the test (hard to believe) or B) None of them wanted to publicly share their score. If I didn't know any better, I'm assuming that sharing ones score would be embarrassing because a person's online identity is like their real life identity and who wants to admit to people they have *that* social disorder? Assumably, that'd be grounds for throwing one out like an outcast in the NT world, which is probably not what someone with Social Anxiety is trying to achieve. So, I still need to figure out how to get an NT to publicly admit their score (Or at least admit it to me. Maybe I need to copy the test and host it on my server and store the results?)...
But, here it is if you'd like to take a look:

I'm sharing it on my facebook to see if I can get some more responses. None so far though

Hi all! I'm the writer of the test - sounds like it's gotten a lot of mixed reactions... *grins*
Just to clear up a few of the points raised:
* With the scoring, the test is designed to give someone who meets all three criteria a very high score, and someone who does not meet any of the criteria a very low score, which is why so many people on the spectrum tend to get high 60s or 70s as a result. This is to make sure that someone qualifying as an NT by these criteria can't get a higher score on points than someone qualifying as AS.
Also, the reason many people seem to get 72/72 is that the score is based on how many criteria are met rather than on the number of AS favouring answers to questions - which means that a full score can be reached without getting high points on every single question. Even so, I've been pretty surprised about the number of 72s...
* I did do a few test runs before launching the quiz, but the sample group was very small (2 NT's, 5 Aspies - all I had available). I'm storing and compiling the results from this test though, so if I make a version 2.0 it will be a bit more accurate. In any case, it should be taken as a fun little facebook app rather than a reliable diagnostic tool.
* I completely understand that the "do others think..." style of questions are a bit ambiguous - It can be quite tricky to come up with observable straightforward tests for criteria such as missing social cues or obsessing about interests. Unfortunately, I think it's just one of the limits of multiple choice questions.
* The third section of the diagnostic criteria is all about sensory processing differences. As such, the reason for including Synesthesia as one of the diagnostic criteria is that it is a very obvious form of sensory processing difference - but if your particular types of sensory processing differences don't include this, then it doesn't make you any less AS...
I think that's about everything - thanks all for trying it out, and if you've got any advice for the next incarnation, I'd love to hear it.
Oh, and I'll be getting together the results and trying to draw some conclusions about it in the next week or so - will keep you posted...

Awesome! Well - good luck. I thought it was very well done, myself. I've posted it on my facebook, so hopefully some of my friends will take it too (I'm from Brisbane also, btw).

Thanks for that - Good to know there's a few more Brisbanites around, too... *grins*

I posted it too and no one except for my mom commented on it. She thinks that I may have it and she told me that when she looks back at the way I acted as a kid a lot of the AS symptoms match up, but she never knew about the ASDs at the time (in the 90s). She always assumed it was just depression because of her and my dad getting divorced.

Of course, if you never notice (an aspie trait) then you can't answer the question. You have to go out into the world and really pay attention, then come back and answer.
