how you feel about my tone is not significant to me, and it is unrelated to the fact that you responded offensively to another member. i pointed out that your abrasive approach preceded your reaction to the member on this thread, so it cannot be used as an excuse for your approach.

you can find me as offensive as you want - that is unrelated to your post towards the other member.

you seem to think that people should approach you in a certain way, but on WP you do not have any clout. all members follow the same rules, and you do not have any special status here.


Quite the contrary. I just think that a moderator should practice what she or he preaches, which you are currently, in my view, demonstrating that you don't do. Perhaps, in hindsight, I should have complained to a moderator instead of reacting like I did. That I will concede. But the last I checked, moderators are also members and thus held accountable too.

Thanks. I don't think she sees it that way. But then again, even a couple of the posts I submitted which have actually helped people she didn't like either. I guess I can't please everybody.

absolutely we are accountable, and if you think i broke any rules you have the freedom of going to another moderator about it.

i corrected your behaviour and you tried to excuse your post by blaming it on the abrasiveness of another member. but really, your post was abrasive all on its own. that was my point. you cannot use other members' posts as an excuse for your reactions, and if you do so then i will call you on it.

since i think you could reasonably understand my point by now, i think we can stop derailing the thread. feel free to send a PM to myself or to any other moderator for further clarification.

That *could* be offensive. But I was not offended by it.
I am new here, and I just got my diagnosis. I have things to think about.

I don't know the dynamics of this site yet either, but I have obviously met some of the more interesting chaps.

I was knowingly being disrespectful, but no more than Unspecified was.

Longshanks, however, was just pointing out the lack of respect that Unspecified was showing in dismissing everything as aspie "BS", and was rather patiently offering a few blunt words of advice against doing so.

i am glad that you agree that you were out of line.

Longshanks was actually posting an insult towards Unspecified (as i quoted above). he was nowhere near as offensive as you or Unspecified, but nonetheless he stepped into an argument and added more offense to the pile.

i do know that you are biased against me. a person doesn't have to dig too deeply to see the history there. but let's not make the thread about us.

Unspecified, that's great you were not offended. but other members may have felt differently. i appreciate that you will ask for moderator assistance in future, thank you.

i trust that this matter is settled, and further discussion can be made via PM to myself or another moderator.

Again, I made the mistake of letting my passions get the best of me after I was offended. Big mistake and I will try not to let it happen again. In the same token, Hyperlexia, there have been a couple of posts I've put up for which you have been condescending about for which I've received pm's about that have actually helped people. It could be that you may be - shall we say - prejudiced - and upon information and belief, those prejudices may be governing your thinking. Being a moderator does not make you immune from such a phenomonom (sp?).

In the meantime, as it is obvious that we have a personality conflict, may I suggest the we keep communications between the two of us to very minimum? After your recent threatening communication, I believe it would be for the best.

Having a clear intellectual understanding of the world is more important than social awkwardness. Things don't suddenly stop being true just because you don't like them.

If we abandon all logic and reason just because the facts are unpleasant, we will turn into a race of complete idiots. Well, most people are already there, but the point still stands.

To use your own example, where would your autistic son be if everyone was too scared to admit that he was different? If everyone felt too uncomfortable to admit that he had a disorder called autism, because it's not nice to think that people can have problems? People would just think he was a real jerk, and that he had no excuse for being so rude, even though he probably can't help it. Imagine how much worse he would be treated.

Where would we be right now as a species if we never had any knowledge about fire, because we were too scared to study and experiment with it, always fearful of getting burned?

Where would we be if we had never discovered the cause of things like cholera? If we were too scared to tell everyone they had been drinking water with human waste in it, because it's gross and we don't want to think about it?

Germs in your food? No way, that would be horrible, let's not think about it...

All NTs ever do is lie to themselves and each other, ignoring reality as much as they can because they're all so terrified that the truth about certain things might be unpleasant.
