By doing this, you're drawing attention to yourself.

Drawing attention to yourself isn't always bad though. I know I have a harder time on the bus when people think I'm not disabled than when they think there's something up with me. I've found that even if I don't need it at that point in time if I'm wearing things that help with sensory overload, I'm treated far more respectfully than if I'm not because someone treating me as if I have no issues is often worse with my sensory issues than someone treating me as if I'm disabled and less capable than I am.

Not everyone functions best by trying to blend in. I'd suspect that for nintenofan, being open about her issues is actually more effective than trying to hide them, because she will react to things that others won't react to.

I'll at times go to the grocery store in the middle of the night wearing ear plugs, safety glasses, and a cloak. Recently my new face mask has finally came in, so I'll have a face mask that I wear around at times too. Sure, people look at me funny; people looking at me funny, even people judging me because of what I'm wearing to protect myself from the outside world, is far better than dealing with things that I cannot cope with.

pepole understand me better when i wear it, when i dont pepole just literaly push and shove me and try to say whatever they want, i still get coments, but i dont get drives beeping and swearing at me (when they drive trough green man (3 cars did that the other day! at once! ) or when im in the way of them parking in a private parking area where they shouldnt be) , less pepole make coments to me, and pepole are more caring and understanding then me just looking like a grown up having a "tantrum" , when autism is more suvere, you have to do this sort of thing, regardless of how others think of it.
