You know, I watched Stargate from beginning to end, and have every season but the last on DVD already and I never would have thought that about Daniel until the LAST episode....

That scene with him and Vala... and him being so COMPLETELY clueless, yeah. I see that now. But he made up for it, you have to give him that.

I think the final episode of Daria (not the final movie) verifies she was diagnosed with AS when she was 6 years old and her parents never told her.

Holmes?

Of COURSE Sherlock Holmes

Hes the original posterboy! Way more than Data Spock or The Doctor. We getto see the realistic painful side of it hes unaware of. His failure with women. His hatred of meeting new prople. His lack of intrest of anything not related to deduction. He forgot to even mention he had a brother to his best friend.

Mycroft Holmes is AS as well. More because of his anti social ? Or less because hes unmotivated.

What about the other classics? was Frankensteins creature one?
What about Captain Ahab?
Boo Ridely from To Kill A Mocking bird?

If we're getting into Stargate, why not Rodney McKay from Stargate Atlantis? He's far beyond intelligent in the areas of math and astrophysics, his only friend is his cat (up until the show, when he starts making some new ones), he insults people just by breathing sometimes, he's completely oblivious to the subtext of what's going on around him, he's hopeless with women (in the episode with the alien priesthood who has the ZPM at the end of season one, one of the priestesses comes onto him so obviously everyone in hearing distance knows it, and Rodney has to be told later that she was hitting on him). He also stims, especially by doing a snapping/clapping thing with his hands that I believe was originally done by one of the Marx brothers, and it's one I also use.

Also, whoever said Nita from the Young Wizards series, I'm not sure I'd agree about Nita, but what about her sister Dairine?

Sheldon from the show "The Big Bang Theory".

It's never mentioned on the show, but it's fairly obvious. For example, the Wikipedia page for the show speculates that he has AS.

Boo Radley definitely! And maybe Atticus Finch too? I don't know if Frankenstein's monster would qualify because he didn't develop as a human would, but that's just my opionion....

And definitely Sherlock Holmes, and there was another private detective character in movies and TV and old time radio (maybe in books too, I'm not sure) called Nero Wolfe who had a lot of Aspie traits. He mostly liked to eat gourmet food and drink beer, and tend to his (I think orchids but I may be wrong). He didn't want to meet new clients or even go outside if necessary.

I saw "P.S. I Love You" last night, and they imply that Harry Connick Jr.'s character, Daniel, has Asperger's. He talks about how he's constantly "the shoulder" to women and never anything else, which is a pretty common problem for us Aspie males. He is prone to being more blunt and honest than is really expected, and at one point, when he offends the female lead, Holly, he responds "Sorry, I have a syndrome." In fact, one of my new favorite movie exchanges was between Daniel and Holly:

Daniel: It's this thing I have. I can't pick up social cues.
Holly: So you're rude.
Daniel: Yeah, but that's a disease now- there's a pill for it.

lol! I wish there really was a pill for it though....

D'oh!! !! OK, I don't usually feel dumb, but yeah... McKay is the freakin POSTER boy for Asperger's from Stargate Atlantis... I don't know if that's why I like his character so much, or if it's because of the way he keeps annoying everyone and still doing the right thing in the long run. An intellectual giant with the social skills of a soapdish. And even though he was only in 2 episodes of the original Stargate SG-1, Jay Felger (and his partner in "The Other Guys" Coombs).

The guy from Boston Legal, Jerry Espenson, but I don't think it does us justice.

Also, Al Borland from Home Improvement.
