Normal for an aspie. Take the unasked hugs as opportunity to practice returning them properly.

Blackcat,

Yeah it's sad! Some people here have problems I WISH I had! My only consolation is they often have problems I'm glad I don't, etc... The day I meet someone that is PERFECT is the day I'll probably just fall apart because I couldn't handle it. Luckily, from that standpoint, the average person is getting LESS perfect. IRONIC, but true.

I'm SURE you have heard this before. I should have done it in my last interview. 8-( They said they didn't think my "people skills" were good enough for the job I REALLY wanted. BUT... Here it goes!

THINK OF THEM IN THEIR UNDERWEAR!

BTW I HAVE spoken to rooms with well over 100 people. I actually find it easier than talking to a few people.

Your precocious abilities in speech and reading and your sensory issues indicate Asperger's. I was on the run early in life, loved books from the time I was a baby (that was my mother's influence, and I thank her for it), and am sensitive to some sounds and smells. I have unusual interests, both in degree and type.

I only go so far, so I guess the worst ones don't give me problems. As for the pretty women? My pants aren't that tight, and HEY, there is usually a podium if you're standing.

this is the first time I have read this post and your experiences are pretty close to mine, but I'm not diagnosed either.

I'm not so musically inclined (although I mess around with bass), but one day I picked up a pen and was able to draw everything I saw around me. By 4th grade, I was the top artist in the class/school and that remained throughout middle and high school. I also started writing in 5th grade and was published (small run) by 8th. My boyfriend tells me that I rock very slightly when I'm really happy, I'm constantly picking at my face and my eyebrows, chewing on my sleeves, rubbing my arms, and blinking. I've only had a few really close friends my whole life. I get wicked obsessive about people and bands, like scarily so, and because I was a first child, my parents just thought I was weird and didn't put two and two together when I was asked to join the Gifted and Talented program.

I'm 24 now and its nice to have found this place.

i used to just rub my eyebrows, but in high school I started picking at them and my neck, I think maybe it was just nerves or stress from dealing with high school, don't really know. I still do these things, and when people point it out, I change the subject really quickly.

Reading at age 2, sounds like hyperlexia to me.

Can someone explain to me what textbook AS is? I still can't grasp onto it. What's the difference between textbook AS and regular AS?
