If the person is fun to talk to and you enjoy their company what does it matter?

If you start trying to pursue a real life relationship with them and find out it wont work because they are not a gender you find sexually attractive why does that make you mad instead of disappointed?

Is it because you feel like they wasted your time? If you enjoyed their company and talking to them how could that be a waste of your time?

If a forum has any kind of 'benefit' beyond being a part of a community, such as a buy/sell/trade forum, one common use of additional accounts is to create shill bids to artificially inflate one's items, or to attempt to 'devalue' another individual's items, so that you have a chance to pick it up cheaply.

Not something you'll encounter on most special interest forums.

I am curious KBABZ, did your Sock Puppet join that virtual petition and what was the admin's reaction to it? I am afraid that I don't know what censor by-passes are. How could you use them inadvertently, and why are they there if you are not supposed to use them?
I am also curious if there was any attempt made to explain to the administrator that you did not know that you were breaking the rules. It seems to me that if your Sock Puppet can function on that board without getting into trouble with the moderators, and they still will not let KBABZ back, there is something very strange about that board; but then, there are a lot of strange things about NT's.

I've got 3 email adresses and know how to change my IP-- I'm technically unbannable XD

But I've never ever made more than one identity, anywhere. AMyinly because I dont' enjoy antagonizing people, and I've only ever been banned once. (And that was on Ann Coulter's forums.)

I made at least five different identities on a teen forum when I was in high school. I always felt unsatisfied with the way people percieved me and would experiment with fake identities/personas to see which one everyone liked best.

That's going at the top of my resume. Forget my eight years as Governor of Tennessee, thirty years as a US Senator, my role in the brokering of a permanent Palestinian-Israeli peace and my role in bringing peace to Iraq, not to mention the fact that I've cured both cancer and AIDS. Those awards top all of that.

Banned from Ann Coulter's forum? I would think that's a good thing.

I've been banned from Ann Coulter's forum, and I never even registered there.

I've also been banned from a leftwingish forum.

I am guessing they are things like typing f__k instead of typing the swearword.

I only have one username. I think if I had more I would lose track and make a fool of myself somewhere. Plus, dealing with just one personality is enough for me.

Well, I wasn't able to join the petition because at the time, I had no idea how to get back on. This event happened about four or five months ago, and it ironically led to me joining WP, but in any case, I created a second account but it got locked at Read-Only status, which isn't helpful because you've got the same privileges as a normal member. As I said, I didn't actually know just WHO banned me, and I had to do some searching to find out why, because they didn't tell me, and when I did find out, it was more than a month later, and I was already on WP.

Censor by-passes work like this: On this particular board, it is intended to be friendly for those at 13 years of age, so swearing is not allowed. I'll use their example word 'gris'. Now, if gris was a swear word, then typing it as gris would be counted as swearing. A censor bypass is hiding only part of the word, such as gr*s or ***s. I had happened to find a way to censor nearly all of the word **** by using the symbols $, #, ! and the letter T, in that order. I didn't know at the time what censor by-passes were or that they weren't allowed, so I thought I was adhering to the rules. Usually you only lose some Karma, but I got a full-on ban due to how many times I inadvertently used it. (karma is like 'respect' and stuff, a bit like authority in a gang, to name one real-life example, and you build it up as you post on a board and stay logged in, and lose it by violating the rules).

There was a thread made on one of the forums I frequented (Jak X, it was a gaming website), where plans were made to make a topic about it in the complaints board. However, before they could do anything, the thread was deleted for being, guess what? Being off-topic, and the creator of the topic, who was a good friend of mine (and still is, we keep in touch on MSN) got a Karma loss. I don't intend to use my Sock Puppet of sorts to try and explain myself, as I do not think it is a very good idea if I try and appeal all on my own. As of yet, no-one but a select few people know who my second identity is, and I've allowed them to know because they had helped me get back while I was away. But so far, no-body on the forum knows about it.

I still remember when I first got banned, and it was such a shock to me that I didn't feel like eating much for a few days. I'm only thankful it happened on a Friday and so the days of 'feeling out' didn't overlap into school days and affect my work.

Oh, and you get two awards for spelling my username right twice.
*updates sig*

It's called having "sockpuppet" accounts, where under one name, someone might say....

"Oh, yeah, well I think THIS."

And then that same person would sign off, and sign back on under a different name and post....

"I most certainly agree."

It's a way of building false consensus online. Some other boards I go to list "sockpuppetry" as a reason for banning, and I pretty much agree.

"And so do I." :D

Sock Puppetry. LOL. I've never done it on this site, since I feel so comfortable here, but on another site(non aspie related), I did make a couple of accounts just so I could post the embarrassing things.

Have you noticed that the people you are probably suspicious of aren't posting in this thread? I think two people (names should not be said) are the same. They are very similar, the way the speak, little mistakes in type, similar interests ect. and neither of them are posting in this thread.

I used to post a long time ago on a Goth Dating Website, but I ended up forgetting my Password (I think) so I made a new one, eventually I stopped going on there so now I can't use the account. :?

Here are some plans I have for Sock Puppetry in the future:

Going to a Gay Website and being too Gay, even by their standards.

Going to a straight website, and, again being to Gay (Maybe hitting on Guys  ).

Going to a Rightwing Forum and being too Rightwing, then acting Gay.

And posting in an Ann Coulter Forum about completely off topic things, then advertising really weird products.

And making several Sock Puppets so that I can start fights with them and then get random people involved in a flame war.

I think it'll be interesting. :P
