I struggle with the tone of this site........

I often feel my mood slipping away after visiting.

It may just be the nature of things though - people are discussing serious issues that are important to them at the time - don't know how you change that.

I'm genuinely interested to know what it is that some people see as excessively negative on here. I just don't see it. Is it because they have wonderful, happy hunkydory lives and therefore when they get a reality check they think it's negative?

I can't say I've so far had a wonderful existence (still hanging on in there though!) so maybe I am a realist and see what I see on here as a reflection of reality.

there is truth in that

but in reality you are asking one thread to change to forum - absurd.

I said threads - plural

Most seem to be happy with the way things are

The OP is as far as I can work out in the minority, but he and you and anyone else that is unhappy with the general tone or nature of threads on WP can post as many threads of your own concerning whatever topics you choose and I for one promise to keep well away from them!

I find this attitude very 'dog in a manger' ie 'I don't want to be bothered to create my own threads but I'm happy to criticise those people that have bothered to create their own'

I don't want the forum to change - I like it fine as it is, hence I have no incentive to change it

Those who don't like it need to create threads on the topics they want to discuss - this is the solution in my opinion

I can confirm I do know the above poster posted an IQ of something like 187 - it was said with modesty not boastfully

It was far more than my estimate of my own by the range i have tested has been so wide its an absurd measure imo.

Its actually a very poor measure as most know.

Last night I said I have an IQ of 187 and a big lifted sports car. Is that what you're remembering? I don't know where I said it now since the thread purges of last night completely changed the landscape of WP.

a troll was banned and great swathes of posts were removed - they started A LOT of threads.

It seems now like the OP has left this thread anyway.

I dont believe they were a troll or that many posts is indicative of trolling - he made some good posts!! I completely disagree and refer to my view on evasion of improvement.

I struggle with the tone of this site........ quite right!! absolute pedantry all round, I now have to debate singular and plural like a 7 year old.

I often feel my mood slipping away after visiting - agreed - it kills it. Its quite toxic a tiresome.

It may just be the nature of things though - people are discussing serious issues that are important to them at the time - don't know how you change that - I do.

many trolls start off with legitimate posts. they get bored, they have psychotic breaks, etc.

Why not lock the thread? State a reason

I honestly dont believe your argument is valid.

"many do" means he is? no

are you talking about the OP or about yesterday's trolling incidents? this OP is not trolling, there is a perfectly legitimate concern there which i don't happen to agree with. if you have any questions or concerns about yesterday's troll you can ask in a private message to any moderator.
