10/20, chance level. Almost all of them looked genuine to me.

I was a bit puzzled with the question after the quiz... what elese than the mouth could you use to observe a smile? Obviously I am missing something.

I don't think tests like these are good because they're fake, but IRL eyes can tell you. Do they smile with their eyes? Is there warmth in their gaze? Physically the eyes will also narrow a bit.

wow... I got 19/20. I read a book recently on detecting a lier, and smiling was one of the main things mentioned. For a week or so I fixated on practicing my "lie detecting skills." Turns out it paid off somehow. I looked at the eyes for any squinting primarily, but this can be faked too, so you look at the ears (you'll notice a lot of 'real' smiles will have their ears moving up and down).

Hmm... though I think my instincts weren't bad despite going with analytical observation to answer.
