I was tested to be in the extremely/profoundly gifted category while in grade school. After that, every school day while the other students were working on their daily topics, my teachers gave me mental puzzles/concepts to solve in different areas that were directed at my age group. I got board with them as they were usually too easy for me. Many times I could give the answers before I finished reading the questions that were being asked on it. It threw them for a loop when my reading abilities were tested to be almost a decade higher than they should have been normally and I was fully comprehending what I read, so it was not a fluke. They moved to harder topics for me to work with. (I loved studying about Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity and what it meant to the universe, both small and large. I even helped tutor high school students on it.) However, my social deficits started to show in middle school, right when I moved to a new school in a new state. Then the constant bullying began. So, I can attest that one can have both at the same time.
