"Real autistics" versus Aspies and HFA

I've always figured the parents are ticked-off about their situation, and are misdirecting their aggression.

Personally, I'm sorry if people are having a harder time than me, but I'm not inclined to be someone else's punching bag.

I have impairments. The doctors told me it was autism. And I honestly don't care if I have "real autism" or not, especially considering that they don't even know what "real" autism "really" is.

I hear you, I don't give a toss whether people think I have real ASD or not either. It says more about where they are coming from than where I am at.

The deniers remind me of the separatist radical lesbian feminists in the last century who claimed they were the only "real" feminists. Horsecrap.

I think this comes down to differences in the way parents handle their predicament. Personality has a lot do with whether a parent chooses to transfer their negative emotions into aggression. Circumstance can influence a parent of a LFA child to misdirect this aggression toward people who don't deserve the grief.

I can't stress enough, however, that there are some really dedicated parents of LFA children who not only give up everything for their children but also devote time toward helping other parents.

Yes, I am sure there are some really good LFA parents and they aren't the ones who hog the publicity (nor is the media interested in them).

I couldn't cope with parenting a person with LFA. Hats off to those that could, but I couldn't throw my life away spending every waking moment at home looking after my child.

If I had a child with such heavy demands I would have no choice but to put them up for adoption. I could proceed with my life as planned, and they could have a chance to be cared for by loving parents.

I couldn't parent any child whether on the Spectrum or not so I chose not to have any. I respect and applaud any parent who does the job well and I understand and feel for parents who are overwhelmed.
