Not all adults share the same values. The values of WP as I understand them are support, respect, protection from personal attacks, trolls, and the like. If you don't like the values, don't intend to respect them, then maybe reconsider your membership.

This thread gives me a weird mental image/video: someone's overly perky neighbor holding a plate of cookies and yelling 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!' with a creepy smile on his face. The befuddled homeowner then shuts the door in his face.

I was going to say something along those lines, but I didn't because I don't like conflict.

I also see each of my fellow members as equals, no matter how intense they are or how many autistic traits they have.

I didn't find something particularly mean and cruel in this thread.
People just posted their opinions, which others can disagree with, no problem.

If someone leaves wp temporarily or permanently, then that is their decision based on what is going on inside their minds.

Saying "she is an adult" doesn't excuse the hostility some members are expressing in contravention of the rules against personal attack. Saying "she is an adult" seems intended to let the hostile off the hook for their part in Skibum's decision to leave.

She was banned for discussing banned members then trying to circumvent the rule when she was told to stop.

LOL, the only person I'm slagging off there is myself.

But having read it, I have realised I cannot take my own hostile attitude towards myself any longer. Not that I'm in any way trying to get people to beg me not to go, but I just cannot deal with it any longer: it's too stressful and exhausting. So I'll be leaving WP until such time I can learn not to make personal attacks against myself - so, see you in 2 hours after I've had a shower and cup of tea, folks

There are many more of us, skibum, who appreciate nice and kind, IMO, and you are a GREAT contribution to this forum!! Please re-consider.....

Something new in her life taking her time? Lost access to the internet? Illness making it impossible to use the internet? I have no idea at all. Also, I have no idea how to communicate with her other than here.

So a simple message saying I hope things are well with you, I appreciate what you have contributed here and would love to see more of you seems totally reasonable. So I posted.

Since Nice Cup of Tea seems to post something critical and negative after almost every post I write, I was not surprised to see that response, but I am really surprised that anyone else felt the same way.

Stalkerish!??!?? What the f*ck? I reread the first few posts on this thread and try to see it. No way. That there is something wrong with people's social cognition here should be no surprise, but to see even simple communications of good will as somehow creepy is something else. What a nasty, screwed up lens to view the world through.

I don't pretend to understand other people very well or presume to know why people are being so hostile on this thread but calling a little appreciation and well wishing at Christmas creepy, stalkerish and whatever is totally baffling to me.

I don't like it.
