Yep....That was from a Moderator.

I ain't out to bully no one. And neither were the other posters.

We just don't think somebody was stereotyping people with AS, giving them a bad name. You thought so--for some reason.

And you shouldn't have accused some people of "pretending." They have to live with AS every day, just like you.

Now....if you want to have an amiable discussion about this...

This thread seems to have been derailed by personal attacks. PMs are going out.

Just a quick reminder that all members are required to follow the rules: viewtopic.php?t=12459

Among the rules that we are obliged to follow is a prohibition against personal attacks, a prohibition against offensive content and a prohibition against purposely causing conflict with other members.

To be explicitly clear, those prohibitions would include calling other members liars, attacking their personal motives and character rather than the content of their arguments and reposting or referencing content from the Haven in other forums.

Hopefully, this warning and related PMs will permit the thread to continue on topic.

This post is not from a "Moderator", if you look at the user's post, you realize that it is not more than a post from a user like any user.
I regret to have been bullied on this thread, but it is AS every day life, it is what often happens when you say the Truth.
But i said what i think, and that, i do not regret. i do not need to say more.

Ahem...

I don't want to "discuss" anymore because saying Truth results in being bullied here.

You may think your opinion is the truth, but others may not see it that way. For a lot of things there is no one, simple, objective truth, and people can have different opinions that are all equally valid.

Disagreeing with your opinions and requesting empirical evidence to support them is not bullying. Denying the authority of a moderator won't score you any points, either.

WHAT facts, exactly? Please cite valid references, as well.

Austinfrom1995: I think the "sheep" thing is just about what appears on the surface, and ignores the fact that NTs are just trying to figure their lives out too. To think of a person as a sheep ignores how complex all people are. In addition, is there any evidence for the idea that NTs are driven by conformity?

I wouldn't go so far as to call NTs sheep, but there is rather a preponderance of scientific evidence which demonstrates that people (moreso NTs by virtue of their instinctively more social nature) are very much driven by conformity. One such study had participants sitting in a waiting room which was being filled with a smoke-like substance from under the door of the next room. If the participant was alone, they would report the smoke to someone in charge, but if they were with other "particpants" (actually experimenters planted in the scenario), and the other particpants made no move to report the smoke, the real participant wouldn't either. The more people there were, the less likely the subject was to break out of the social pattern and report the apparent threat.

Another experiment of a similar nature had participants grouped with three other people, all experimenters pretending to be other subjects. They performed very simple identification tasks with cards, such as, "show me which of the four lines is longest", and "which of these vehicles is good for transporting large objects." The participants would start out by selecting the correct answer, but the experimenters/fake subjects deliberately collaborated and chose the wrong answer. The majority of the time, the real subject would change his answer to conform to the group's, despite it being obviously incorrect. Such is the power of social conformity.

Yes, conformity exists. But I think it's unfair to disregard the individuality and complexity of NTs and think of them as mindless robots. Just because you conform sometimes, doesn't mean it's your entire identity.

At what point does conformity become an issue? We live by virtue of conformity on many things. Don't hurt others. Don't cheat others. Take care of your family.

Does anybody have a disagreement with that?

So where do we draw the line that allows people to be called 'sheep'? I agree that there are sheep types just following the herd. But most aren't. It's a gross over-generalization that has been used to bad effect on both sides of the fence.

And, I've never seen any person that was just cookie cutter. I wouldn't know if they were NT or ND. But I know I have met them both by virtue of the laws of large numbers.

Not sure, but conformity seems to be the latest tangent.

I suppose it's common for Aspies to be black and white thinkers though, unlike me. I always see the grey areas in everything, so this is why I feel irked when I see Aspies here seeing things as either black or white. I feel I have to voice my thoughts.

What you've just said is black and white, so no.
