Recently I asked my old Youth Group Director if I was eccentric. We are very close and I consider him to be my best friend dispite him being 2x my age. His answer was "Yes, in a good way. You are a Freethinker."

I think a good replacement would be Freethinker?

I like Aspergant. I'll start using that one. If we can't delete the word Asperger's, why not just make different spin-offs of it such as Aspergant?

I like cute nicknames. I want my aspergers to be called Spiffy Syndrome! I can imagine where that would be fun to talk about.

Random person: What the hell is wrong with you?
me: I have spiffy syndrome!
Random person: What the hell is that? That isn't real!
Me: It is a kind of autism where you are really spiffy!

I don't think that Spiffy Syndrome would be a very good descriptor of me, since I'm not spiffy at all.

Now, GROOVY SYNDROME... that I might go for. ;)

I don't like Aspie, agree that it seems diminutive. However, I don't like gay, either. Kind of takes a bad shot at gay pride.
I call myself an Autist.
Also, in response to neuro-typical, I am neuro-unique.
