I use spacker mainly to annoy people who "arent allowed" to say it. Kind of like the whole "black people can say n*gga but no-one else can" thing. When actually probed about it, I tend to vary the response. some times Im just higher function autistic, other days I've "got" aspergers. Never seems to matter cause I always end up having to take a month to explain it whilst trying to not mention Rainman

I don't know why, but the term "aspie" irks me somewhat (not that it bothers me too much or anything though). But "autie" sounds allright for some reason.

well, i have just discoved the term aspie, and the term NT.

but, for sure i am Not-typical. which is also an NT. so i guess i could be AT, for atypical.

and i do usually know where I am AT even if i don't know where i am...

but if someone did call me an aspie, i would feel complimented.

It's an ugly word - no doubt. It's a label which is even worse because it defines who you are erroneously. You aren't a label. You aren't even the combination AS says you are. Pchh.

It's another term that makes things EASIER for those that can't THINK, REASON and DISCERN for themselves. For the idiots of this world - here's another word that given certain denominators you will arrive at a composite which is you. BS!! !

Notice how it's a negative connotation? Why is that? What's wrong with being different? Why not offer hope in the name, if anything. Call it - shining minds with incredible focus. Or highly intelligent beings with exceptional talents. Why does this have to connotate a fd up state of being? Eh? The more people TELL you you're fd up - the more you will tend to believe it. And just the opposite of that is true - if people tell you you're a genius with unlimited potential, vibrancy and gifts - that too will become integrated into your belief system.

Take it up with HANS. Apparently he wanted to originally call it Little Professors.

I am an Aspie. I am not a "person with AS" any more than I am a person with maleness, person with moderate tallness, or person with intelligence. I am male, slightly tall, and intelligent, as well as autistic. Saying "person with AS" implies that it is some kind of disease, like cancer. Person-first terminology is used with a disease or disorder. I have ADHD-predominantly inattentive and I have sensory integration disorder. I could be described as a person living with prosopagnosia or a person with auditory processing disorder. I do not "have Asperger's Syndrome" and I am not a "person with Aperger's Sndrome." I am an Aspie. It is an inseparable part of who I am, it is part of my identity.

No, he originally wanted to call it autistic psychopathy.

I like the term Aspie. It's cute, in a sort of Anime Chibi sort of way.
