It hit a record 37 (98.6) degrees while I was working outside all day yesterday. It felt hot, but I didn’t think it felt record breaking hot. At least I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt & ball cap while pressure washing so there was some cooling water mist. I just drank quite a bit of water is all.

All the time I’ve spent naked in the sun at the beach must have conditioned me quite well to deal with the heat. 8) I haven’t even really had any heat related sleepless nights, either. Might be a problem if I tried to go to sleep before midnight though - still warmer then.

13 temperature records were broken in BC over the weekend, the highest hit 41.4 (106.52) in Lytton, the town my father graduated high school from.

fascinating how 98.6 feels torrid outside our body but normal inside.

Vancouver went up to 28 Celsius. Which is pretty darn hot for Vancouver.

hottest it's been here in my neck of the woods, where 70-ish is a normal summer temperature, was 106F with a misery index of 113.

106 degrees is the all-time record high for New York City.

all my life, no matter what diet I've been on, the sweat is the same. it is just what i'm made of, I guess.
Oh goodness. I am sorry you have to have that.

Misery index sounds about right!

I'll have to look that one up LOL.

But I don't think the "real feel" temperature was 113 on that date.

living in a tin can that absorbs that head and re-radiates it at night, is a specially hellish thing. I couldn't get it any cooler than 86F with 2 a/c units running full blast. I hadda strip naked and drape myself in frozen wet bath towels, and sit in front of a fan, too hot to do anything else.

I'm thinking about getting a sleeping mat for my living room. Then I can sleep Japanese-style. :)

What colour is it? Especially the top of the roof.

If black, that’s the worst.

Paint it white, especially the top of the roof, and it won’t heat up as much.

This is actually being done on rooftops and even blacktop roads all over the world in order to reduce surface temperatures & energy costs to cool buildings.

I am surrounded by tall trees that shed abundantly, and if I put snow roof up there, it is somewhat tacky even when dry, in humid climates, and the tree needles would be impossible to remove. but that is a good idea otherwise. what some people do here on their tin cans, is to build a false overhang roof above their tin cans, with an air gap for circulation. I wouldn't go that far as it makes roof maintenance much harder. i'd erect a large tarp overhead, which can be moved out of the way when need be.

I slept in the basement last night. Luckily nobody saw me down there.
Yesterday, we had 94F here in Switzerland which is very unusual here. Also we have always over 50% humidity and no real rain since months. Its getting very uncomfortable here. :(
