I don't fit in anywhere including here. Humans suck. Humans suck. Humans suck.

You seem to have a very different impression from what some other people are saying about the alleged good old days of WP. Of course I wasn't around back then so I would have no idea what it was really like.

this is wildly insulting

Yep, that sure is true. I'm fortunately not one of the True Scotsmen. :)

And I must say, I find it extremely odd that the True Scotsman would be so vocal that envying the English is what makes a True Scotsman.

Even though stereotypically, they're supposed to dislike me and wish to remake me into a "normal person". And yet, they love my dark, deadpan humor and outspoken attitude. They even know I'm Jewish! 8O While on this very site, I now feel afraid of getting issued a warning every time I post! :(

Because the above is veering into PPR territory, I've started a new thread COVID, QAnon, and the best interests of autistic people? in PPR to continue this part of the discussion.

I'm sorry if my wording came across as insulting to the OP.

I am certainly not "upperclass," nor am I part of any "upperclass commune" here in NYC.

The OP does have a very unusual writing style (unusual relative to everyone else on WP, not just New Yorkers, upper class or otherwise). This unusual writing style might, or might not, be caused by a learning disability.

The OP was wondering about his feelings of not fitting in here on WP. An unusual writing style could certainly contribute to that in a text-based medium like Wrong Planet.

The OP also speculated that perhaps he wasn't disabled enough to fit in. It seems to me that, on the contrary, his feelings of not fitting in might be caused, in part, by being disabled in a different way from many of the other people here.

I'm sorry if my wording was insulting to him. I'm having difficulty figuring out how I could have worded it better. If he was insulted, I hope I've clarified my point.

Yeah. Aspie1 just got through complaining about how in that wonderful bygone era of WP everyone was a "rebel".

Toadsnails was put off by WP back then because everyone here back then was too conformists!

I joined like ten years ago- about the same time as the two mentioned above. WP was not the "Anarchy in the UK" underground punk rock club that Aspie1 says it was. And then as now it was about mutual support of autistics in survival in the unfair NT dominated world (which necessitates a certain amount of conformity to the NT ways). Nothing wrong with Aspie and auties coaching each other in how to be "house n****rs" to survive. But there was no uniformity in opinions then, as now. And quite vitriolic debate then as now.

It's well known that High Functioning Autism (HFA) presents that dichotomy of "not being quite able enough, yet not being quite disabled enough" in the world at large.

What has received much less focus is that same dichotomy here on WP - that is "not being quite able enough, yet not being quite disabled enough" here on WP.

Personally I've never noticed such a thing but then I don't really care either.

I think what scared me off may have been that it was particularly more vitriolic at that particular point in time when I visited the site. Maybe by coincidence, maybe not. I don't know. But either way, that guy's idea of "rebellious nonconformism" seems to overlap a lot with my idea of hyperpreoccupation with fitting in. Like "hey woohoo look at meeee I had sex with hot women and went on a cruise with cool people look at meeeee". Is there anything more "mainstream" than that?

I think thats why I don't get the described "rebellious" behaviour. It just seems like trying really hard to do stereotypically "cool" things to fit in. I don't desire to be "cool" or fit in. I stopped desiring that when I accepted that I'm not NT and don't have to aspire to be NT to be happy.

Exactly. Aspiring to integrate into society is one thing, and it's largely not a matter of choice. Aspiring to be "cool" is something else entirely, and very much at odds with what I understand as self-acceptance.

I was listening to The Kinks, drinking afternoon tea and eating roast beef in 2010. There's hardly anything rebellious about that.

Apart from when I’m at home, I have no place here or anywhere.

I've been giving this a great deal of thought.

I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea where my place actually is. Do I fit in here or not? I have no idea!

It looks like I shall forever continue annoying Cornflake by posting words with horrible last two letters in a particular thread and giving ridiculous answers in another one..... :jester:
