So what's your opinion on cars?
Nope. But I love planes.
Seems I'm not alone.
I've read about the fascination RAAF pilots had when they were just little boys and air force pilots just seem to be very different too. They don't see their craft as a tool, but almost as a comrade. Sometimes they talk about the plane begin an extension of themselves or I guess in the same way a police officer would talk about a police dog. It's not human but like a companion. And you should have heard how sad the pilots were when the F-111 Aardvark (Pig) went into retirement. I'm seriously in love with the Pig too. Who wouldn't be? Swing wing, could fly really low, no avionics and the dump and burn. There's no other plane like it. The F/A 18 Hornet barely lives up to it.
I should calm down now.
MiG's are infinitely awesome too and WW2 dog fighters are beautiful.
Yeah, I just can't get into cars the same way. Maybe it's because I don't see 20 million planes a day being loud and the driver looking at you like your either drunk or mentally disabled. Commercial airliners don't count but they are pretty cool to look at.

I love cars, and pick-up trucks. My baby is my 93 Ford Ranger. I got it in '99 with about 100k miles, now its around 300k. It came with a 2.3L 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed, rear wheel drive. I lowered it and have done a lot to the engine (high-flow exhaust, custom intake, ported oversized throttle-body, ported intake, and so on). One of my obsessions is the Ford 2.0/2.3/2.5L "Lima" series engines. I currently have a 2.5L from a '98 truck in my '93, and I am rebuilding an '88 turbocharged 2.3L, using parts from all three versions of the engine that I have. I love driving and wanted something sporty, but need to drive quite often for work, so I am aiming for ~250 hp and 20+ mpg with my new engine.
For all of the lack of co-ordination I have physically when I try to play sports or things like that, when I am driving my 5-speed, manual steering truck, I take on savant-like abilities. I have always been like that with driving.
I'm a big fan of public transit but I love cars!
I'm a big fan of the Nissan Maxima, Dodge Charger and the Acura TSX, also a big fan of the Dodge Ram pickups with the Cummins engines, I like the diesel Ford & Chevy but the movie Twister made me really take a liking in the Dodge Ram.
when I was younger and my parents would take me to the car dealership, they would go there to take care of some business which I honestly can't remember.
I used to love to go inside the different cars on display inside the show room, and I really like that new car smell.
Here in NYC, I went to the Auto Show this past April and I really enjoyed it. I love to collect the catalogs promoting the different cars on display.
I hope someday I will have a driver's license and be able to afford a car, then I could partake in my roadgeek hobby, something that can't really be done without a car.
