Wait, what are we curing again? Cancer? AIDS? Stupidity? Are we all sick or something? I'm not sick.

Nope, I'd be too scared of what it would do to me. I don't want to change who I am. I like my Aspie-self, even if other people don't always like me for it.

no. i would not accept $1 million to be "cured".

if i got a cure now after 36years, then i would be back at square one.
i would not be any more advanced than an NT baby and i would surely suffer.

so i am stuck with finishing my life on the road i have been on all my life.

that is comfy to me because it is stable.

there can be no "cure" for a genetic disorder. unless you wish to "ctrl-alt-del" and see them reborn which is impossible.

i have come so far along my lonely road, that i am an expert on how to steer myself through it. if i was suddenly "cured" then i would be confused because of the discontinuity of my previous life's cessation.

i really do not want to be any other way than me, so i would not accept any potion that would alter my reality.

i am stuck to be how i am and i am not upset about it.
i am content

This just in ....

Autism and AS have a physical basis in how our brains are 'wired'.
We can no more be 'cured' than someone with Downs can be cured.

Our new rallying call: "Cure hams, not Autism!! !"

For a million dollars, I'd do it, under the condition I could be paid in advance and postpone it for 75 years.

Would all the expenses related to the cure be paid in addition to the million? Would this also require an automatic enrollment that takes out fees from my debit card monthly unless I call an 800 number to cancel within the first 30 days?

Ditto. The million dollars would be nice, but money can only buy so much. I'd much rather have the cure.

I would sooner take a bullet to the head than accept such a cure. I define myself by change, but that 'cure' changes so much of me on such a fundamental level, that I would never go through with it.

Zero. As they would not want something that hinders their social abilities and denies them opportunities via socializing. They'll feel all awkward and weird for the rest of their lives.

As for those with AS, many wish they can do the same because it is not what you know, but who you know.

My answer is obviously HELL YEAH!! !!
