I think I agree with Greentea.
Although a houseparty sounds absolutely wonderful, as LotusBlossom and Erminea said, especially in the Dordogne or Brittany, where there are some large and beautiful houses in gorgeous countryside, it would necessarily be a far more personal thing.
Kind of why I am suggesting some day meetups beforehand.

Even the biggest houses, and I've been looking at some, wouldn't sleep more than 20-25, even with people sharing, sometimes four to a room in family rooms. And even if they work out cheaper for sleeping accomodation than B&Bs, around £100 each for 5-7 nights, food would add a lot onto that.
20-25 is more than enough for a meetup, tbh once it comes to crunchtime I doubt we would even get that many ppl.

Also there would not be anyone in charge to go to if there were problems about cooking or sleeping arrangements. What if we didn't get on?
Give everyone their own room and if things go badly wrong order in takeaways. Or go for somewhere which is catered.

I was initially a bit taken aback by Greentea saying she wouldn't attend if it was in a house, but although I would not be worried for my personal security I think there could be simple personal comfort issues with people I didn't know in such an unstructured situation/environment, ( remembering some house-shares I have participated in ).
I would love to do that sometime with people from WP that I had already met once or twice, but I think that I would actually be more able to relax in the structured environment offered by Autscape, which nevertheless allows a lot of personal freedom while respecting everybody's needs.
I think it will be full of Auties tbh - feel free to try it though.

I remember having a lot of fun on college and university field trips where the basics, regular food and peaceful sleeping accommodation, were assured, but where outside of course activities we were free to do anything we wanted.
I too felt put off by the Autism slant to Autscape, but the info says that it is for people anywhere on the spectrum; what is to stop us contributing to/creating a Wrong Planet atmosphere there? I might even be ok with a shared room. And the price is very reasonable, as Greentea points out, seeing as all food is included.
I think it would be unfair of us to hijack it in such a fashion.

I don't think that it would be anything like school, for one thing nothing is obligatory except respect for others. ( I don't understand why you think we would be "funding a public school" Kangoogle.

)
Autscape last year took place in one of those schools, ffs. I really object to funding those places.

I'm on for meeting other WPers at Autscape, and look forward to it immensely.

Here is the link to the site again:

By all means go, but I think a separate meet more aimed at people on this site would be better.
