When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Polystyrene, the sound from rubbing it and the feel of touching it.

There's more that I thought
Hand shakes and the smell of "impulse" body spray
And stuffy cars, it's horrible
Having the sun in my eyes
accidently brushing up against people, unless I fancy the person I like it then heehee

cardboard (touch and sound mostly)

chalk

paper stumps (i have to wear ear plugs in my Drawing II class)

when pencils squeak

stuff rubbing on paper

velvet

wool

soft towels.. i feel like i'm still wet after i use them!

toothpaste. i have to use the gel, and even then i don't like it. it's mostly the smell i can't stand.

crest prohealth stuff that makes the inner lining of your mouth slough off and you get that slimy white goo that tastes and smells bad. (i once drank too much lemon juice and made my tongue peal, which was 10x worse, though... it was soooo disgusting. the skin was still halfway stuck on my tongue and when i swallowed, it moved partway down my throat and i had a hard time getting it out. the texture was horrible, too.)

i'm sure there's more.. i'll add them later.

Other people eating or chewing.

Bright sunlight.

Leather (or pleather) couches and chairs.

Lukewarm or cold showers.

Cheap cologne.

When my nails get too long.

Sugary, coarse food on my teeth.

Anything sticky that's in a public place.

Cold feet.

Tight shoes and clothes.

Slugs and snails and worms and frogs.

Ugh...I hate to ask this. Because I hate to be a hypocrite. And I hate to be so PC...

But can we change the word in the subject line from "hate" to "dislike"?

Even though "hate" is liberating to say, in some parts, it's toxic to utter the word. Sorry. :(

:? :silent: :eye: :pale:  :hmph:

Ohhhh- way worse than chalk!
I killed the lindberg baby- I planned the 911 attacks- you name it- ill confess- just make it stop!

Most socks.
Being sweaty.

I don't like getting my hands wet or sticky. I hate being sweaty or feeling dirty, especially my hair. Ugh.

Feeling sticky.

This seems to be a pretty common one, and is probably the worst for me. Adhesive -- glue, tape, etc. -- I don't mind; but other kinds of sticky really really bother me. Especially sugar/food type sticky.

Not a big fan of slimy either. Can't use most lotions because the either leave me feeling sticky or slimy (not to mention the smell).
I cannot stand the feel of most synthetic fabrics, especially fleece. Something about synthetic fleece feels so incredibly wrong to me.
Loud noises, which is probably pretty universal. Particularly crowd noises and overly loud music. I can usually cope if I can find something calming to focus on (reading is good, and I always carry my Treo filled with ebooks).
Strong smells bother me to varying degrees; and certain types of smells I absolutely cannot stand. Cheap cologne/perfumes are the worst. But that may be due to respiratory problems and allergies more than AS.

Those cheap, industrial fluorescent light ballasts really bother me. I can see the flicker from them; and they'll trigger migraines for me fairly fast. CFLs and electronic ballasts aren't a problem.
