Personally speaking, i'm relatively indifferent to this matter but I agree with you here. I am one of the people who sent Sean money, so in that sense, I SHOULD have more of a stake in it than many here. Nonetheless, the loss of $20 doesn't mean that much to me and if this was a scam...it would be the first time i've ever been the victim of one. I get the gist of what's going on here, but I haven't been able to read through this entire thread because the matter just doesn't interest me much.

As far as any involvement on my part is concerned.....the long and short of it is this and the following is for everyone to read.

If anyone wishes to initiate legal action, I MAY be of some assistance since I have saved the receipt of the postal money order I sent him. Also...I have all the pm's Sean sent to me stating that he received the money order in the mail. I myself WILL NOT be the one to initiate any legal action here since I find the entire matter uninteresting and about as stimulating as a crutch. I have no patience when dealing with authorities and the formalities involved in submitting legal complaints. Nonetheless...I have just enough empathy to understand why others may be quite upset about this and if Sean really is a scammer, he should face legal consequences. Therefore....I am willing to assist in anyway I can if others decide that legal action is warranted in this case. I'm just not going to be the one to contact authorities and all that sort of nonsense. If I felt more violated than I do, then I would be motivated to do so. This just isn't on my radar screen of personal priorities though.

BTW....I also have Sean's full name and address if that is something unknown at this point.

It is very possible Sean was scammed by this adrienne, he really made himself out as rather naive and innocent of internet scams, the whole story is just too convoluted, as he did break the story of the sick girlfriend on his birthday, sort of see the beginnings of a trend here people, anyhow I would rather that Sean makes an appearance here to explain whats happened, and not the friends in his clique, he owes people he hurt some answers for what is looking more and more like fraud.

So, has anyone got an answer from Sean yet, judging by the fact that people were going to contact him?

Nothing on my end yet. Doesn't look like he responded to Superboyian either. Still I like to give these give these things about 24-48 hours for a reasonable response timeframe.

But... for those who feel ever so inclined, Sean did post his phone number on his facebook wall. I won't call, since I hate calling people I don't know but since he's made it publicly available I see nothing wrong if someone were to try contacting him.

I am going to suggest to the active moderators that the thread be closed. We're really at a point where almost every post violates the TOS about talking negatively of a member. Those directly involved can continue their investigation in pm. In my opinion, it really shouldn't be a public matter anymore, and I see a lot of potential for more harm to accrue.

Ask yourselves this... If you do take it to court and he is innocent then how will you feel afterwords.

After this poor guy has his girlfriend get cancer, come here asking for help, gets to stressed to post or cannot come on for whatever reason. then on top of it all, goes to a court case and have to fight for his freedom.

over what 600 dollars......

you may have donated money but are you all so bothered about being scammed you cant see you might be jumping to conclusions and be putting an innocent guy through hell..

it reminds me a little of this analogy.

""loads of kids are dead now cause they didn't get any money for food... but at least i didn't get scammed . ""

I dont mean this ^ to insult anyone, i and just trying to explain how it sounds.

you all think that it is fun to do investigating but you fail to see how this might make him feel.

have you put yourself in his shoes?.
if you were him and asked for help and were being treated as such and you were innocent.

Ask your self which is worse.
if it is a scam and you take him to trial and he turned out to be a a scammer you got justice. and you 20 dollars back.

if it wasn't a scam and you just put this poor guy through a court case and god knows how much stress when all he wanted to do was see his girl friend. perhaps pushing him to suicide depending him his mental state.

I just wanted to let y'all know I am talking to Sean on FB right now through PM. I am not going to paste what's said, and so far nothing substantial has come from it.

Has he been to see the gf or plan on going? Did he find out that she wasn't actually sick? ... ... ... Is he at college/school now? Is he ok? ...

Edit. ! !! Ask him if he could pick up some pm's from WP! :)

I just thought it might be a good idea to remind ourselves of the human being that we are talking about here. Pictures tend to help me do that, but I never did like his avatar one! So ... ... ...

I don't think anyone is claiming to KNOW anything here. Just because we know his real name and mailed money orders/checks to his house doesn't mean he's not a scammer. There's plenty of fairly dumb, or at least, very careless, criminals out there. Maybe Sean thought he could easily get away with this here because people with AS/ASD's have a reputation (deserved or not) for being naive, overly-trusting, etc.....

Also....I think all anyone is asking for here is some more answers from him which have not yet been forthcoming. I believe he does owe those who sent him money and those who advocated for his alledged cause that much. If said answers are not forthcoming, then I think some legal investigation is warranted. If such an investigation causes him any inconvenience, then he only has himself to blame for that one.

Would you be willing to defend a charitable group who begs others for money that refused to disclose exactly where and to whom the donations are going?

This situation is no different really.....people (many of whom, like myself, are also quite poor) sent their hard-earned money to him out of the goodness of their hearts. I don't see how it's unfair for any of them to want to know if their money was used for what Sean claimed it would be used for.

With that in mind, anyone who wishes to file a legal complaint here can pm me if my MO receipt, Sean's full name/address, etc....would be of any assistance.

I wouldn't feel one shread of guilt whatsoever. Sean obviously has the time to talk to TeaEarlGreyHot on FB pm. Therefore....i'm sure he could spare a few minutes to offer some answers to the many legitimate questions which have been asked in this thread. Keep in mind these questions are being asked by those who sent him money or those who advocated on his behalf.

Why do you think it's right for Sean to summarily ignore those who tried to make this alledged trip to see his alledged sick girlfriend possible?

That's it exactly. He has time to post on Facebook, to update his myspace page, to play with his x360box, ... but for nearly nine days now he has not posted on WP, even briefly, to explain what is going on.

I, and quite a lot of other people, would just like to know what's happening. It's true, as StuartN has repeatedly pointed out, that our sending money etc does not give us any "right" to updates, but it would simply be considerate of him to do so seeing as we have between us sent him over $600. If he had said to begin with that he wasn't prepared to keep us posted about things once he had the money that would be different, but he clearly agreed with hale bopp when she suggested it.
