Question: If someone agreed to something, but then something came up and the person couldn't do it, is that wrong?

Like lets say he agreed to keep us updated but then something happened and he had no internet access, no phone, no computer, nothing. Would he still he expected to get to a computer to come on this forum? Like use a public library or internet access place or going over to someone's home and asking "Can I use your computer for the internet?"

Honestly I was never good at keeping agreements. I don't know why. That's why I try and avoid making one and still people say I agreed to this or that when I don't ever recall I ever had.

I don't think closing this thread is a good idea. It gets him off the hook. At least we know the place he lives, someone can send the cops over.

Well I'm hoping Teaearlgreyhot has asked him about this situation and will let those who supported Sean know his answer.

I really don't care so much about the money at this point, but those who gave their support and hale bopp deserve some answers here.

Me neither, but more because I think that it is really important that we have the chance to work this out completely, to achieve "closure", or at least get it all out, ... whereas if the thread is shut now I suspect that arguments about it will continue to erupt all over, in other threads, for quite a while to come.

It occurred to me just now, after already switching off the computer and going to bed, that one big reason why this is/has become such a big issue may be that a lot of us on the spectrum have a lot of difficulty dealing with ambiguity, with messiness, ( "humanness" in fact! :lol ). Like League Girl says, he could just be bad at sticking to commitments for example, just switch off from them after a while, and yet to us, watching, it looks as if he is breaking gravely important rules, because they are rules which help us to frame/categorise people's behaviour and choose the best survival-response to it.

We ( or some of us anyway :lol ) keep trying to decide which box to put him in according to which rules he breaks and which ones he obeys! A "bad" person or a "good" person? Black or white.

Well....I doubt something's up with his internet access/computer if he's on facebook, signing into myspace and IM-ing with TeaEarlGreyHot. Needless to say.... it's true that all this could be done from a library comp or a comp at a friend's house. It's also true that he could post a quick update on WP and at least explain what's going on. Even a one minute or less post like the following would suffice:

"Hey guys, a Jersey Giant chicken mauled my computer and along with convicted sex offenders and homeless people, i'm using a computer at the public library at the moment. I will update all of you ASAP".

If you're moving into an investigative stage, isn't that something normally kept very close to the vest and done behind the scenes? Dead ends will be followed, people may not get all the information and think that speculation A is true when it was dropped long ago. Real life, not much is said until the process is FINISHED.

And if he isn't guilty, what about all the personal information that has shown up in the thread? The accusations? It has to be really overwhelming seeing what is going on here, and you are talking about a member.

I actually am not sure what the answer is, for I do know that sometimes people just need to talk things out, but I have seen things in the process here that make me extremely uncomfortable and that I don't feel are productive for the community.

it's important to keep the thread open because we don't know the identity of all the people who donated, therefore they cannot all be contacted by PM. they would be excluded from having any resolution if the thread is closed. at least, if the thread stays open, some donaters who may be infrequent visitors to WP (and therefore unaware of the proceedings thus far) can come back and check what's going on...

I haven't seen any personal information posted here. It wouldn't be a good idea anyway where anyone can see it. PM is more approppiate.

BTW, can't Sean make a new thread updating if this one does get locked? So I don't think this be sweeped under the rug.

The moderators haven't been around much throughout this thread. There is very little personal information that the 'investigators' have exposed that Sean himself didn't share. In fact I am trying to think of anything exposed. Sean himself posted the myspace link and I think a simple search in facebook, for those who are members, would have found Sean. There has only been a mention of knowing his full name, address, and phone number. Sean gave the info himself to contributors. His phone number is on his FB wall. I have only heard a couple people even talk about that if this is a scam then it is illegal. I only heard one threat on his person and it was made more of an analogy that this stuff wouldn't happen in her country without there being consequences. Sean shared all info about his family himself. He's made a bunch of statements that are not true. Everyone is being very nice and very kind even being patient enough to leave the door open for an explanation. IF the people that keep saying; "WAIT FOR THE FACTS to judge Sean" had been following the thread they would keep their opinions to themselves. They are showing they don't know what is up, what has been said, and the outright lies that have been exposed. I wonder how they would feel if they were lied to?????????????????? Those who care have more than maintained their open minds and composure.

It seems to me that the powers that be @ WP has let this thread play itself out. Anyone very negative has been barraged off of it. The only ones left are believers in Sean that are hurt hearing all the questionable behavior. The skeptics haven't been around, obviously bored with no one would listen. I think anyone that has read this thread from the beginning has a right to a little show of emotion, maybe moderators could remind them to not threaten a member, but not threatening them to comply or they will close the thread. No good could come from changing this to private mails between the ones who care. This needs to be out in everyone's face. It is WRONG that anyone should have been allowed to do this, on this site. The time to intervene by moderators is GONE. The wrong thing has already occurred. He has literally been begged to update, clear up the discrepancies ((nice word for it)) and he ignores the pleas.

Why do people post they are talking to him right now and will update and then don't update. Many of Sean's supporters are not in this country, they went to bed without an update. Why post at all??????

i think people will drive themselves crazy arriving at conclusions if the thread gets locked - they are trying to puzzle it out because they have been waiting for answers since the whole thing began.

a lot of people were involved in this saga whether they donated money or not - it has been a very public thing on the forum.

the way to end the speculation is to uncover what really happened, post it, then lock the thread. everyone will digest it then move on.

So much of this is just unacceptable...........

Maybe this is a site for people all over the spectrum...obviously it is because a whole bunch of people aren't bothered with it and then all of a sudden become bothered and then get to jump in and act like they got power or they care or they will ck it out when they haven't cared less for a long time.

Sean man up. No one cares that MOST of this thread is WACK. No one cares if you were confused, no one cares if you meant well and it didn't turn out. You should have given us the information.....YOU took over the thread and made sure to find the AVENUES to get you MONEY. It isn't your money. I am so very very frustrated that anyone has the nerve to throw in their two cents when all they are attracted to is HOT threads where they will get attention. We have some people here that in the true AS nature do not want to judge without the facts. Sorry Sean looks like a kid that really is a normal kid, playing the angles and claiming RETARDATION. We are all ok with this if it is THE CASE that Sean is on one end of the spectrum and is CLUELESS. But he has all kinds of energy, enough brains to be in college, and it all looks extremely WRONG. Sean says he hasn't been to this girlfriend yet because he needs transportation arranged from the airport to her place, and cab fair would cost an extra 200+.

The whole PM exchange was done on mobile on his end.

For some reason I don't believe that for a second. Hitch hike if it matters that much, which it obviously doesn't, because hes laughing about xbox instead of getting to his dying GF.

No-one here is going to be giving him anything - what does he expect?
