The Grinch
He hates noise, commotion, groups, certain foods (roast beast), he lives alone and others speculate about why he doesn't fit in. They think he has no heart. Deep down he is a kind person and doesn't want to hurt anyone, he just wants to avoid sensory overload.

Ramona Quimby did seem to have some autistic traits, although I would have classified her as simply immature. She had friends and was something of a tomboy. One of her classmates, Davy, was severely dyslexic.

I thought Ramona Quimby had AS too. She reminded me a lot of myself as a child.

Also Farley Drexel “Fudge” Hatcher from the Judy Bloom series.

Buster, D.W. and Fern from the PBS cartoon Arthur. I know they have a character with an official diagnosis, a bunny called Carl on that show, but I think the other three could have it as well.

I know Roy on Corrie has but has David?

Either that or some sort of mental problem cos he has meltdowns and stuff which don't seem to make sense and look a lot like my ones* except their causes. For all people say he's manipulative, I don't see it. He just has extreme outbursts when he's cross.

*peanut gate. This latest one at the salon. Not smashing up the street with a sledgehammer which is why I also think perhaps it's a mental condition

He's brutally honest whether he is cross or not and has a very punny sense of humour. He calls Gail 'Gail' which started out because he didn't like her but by this point I think it's because he doesn't see the point of the social rule of calling your mum 'mum'.

I do have a habit of over-diagnosing characters I relate to. I did the mum thing too. Not that way around but I figured dad was away in Spain so I called him 'Daddy' til I was 14 and mum 'mum' since I was 6.

What about Francis Begbie? He's a bonafied psychopath if you ask me. As for Mark Renton, I wish him all the best. And Spud? An aspie? Maybe. Sick boy? He can do one.

Yeah but most of the Trainspotting guys are on drugs...

(have an inkling you're just picking them cos it's me and they're Scottish   )

Ironically I've been thinking how much I miss Edinburgh today but that's cos I never went to a Trainspotting part of it... I felt edgy missing the sugar smell

Yep I had a feeling my Scottish references would work on you.

I think the Scottish are kind of like Russians. Heavy drinkers, deep thinkers, I like you.

I was thinking of Josie Gellar from the movie Never Been Kissed. Not just because she was a “nerd” but she also seemed completely oblivious to what was going on around her socially and even when trying to fit in, stuck out like a sore thumb. There is a scene where she gets up in front of the class and reads a poem she wrote for one of the popular guys. Everyone is laughing at her but she seems completely oblivious. He then asked her to prom as a joke and she fell for it.

I also just saw The Breakfast Club on TV the other night and am wondering if Allison was autistic. She didn’t interact much with the others in the movie and admitted to not having friends. She also occasionally made weird squeaking noises instead of speaking. She is also shown early in the movie biting her nails and eating her own hand.

I don't get why Corrie don't just come out and have Roy diagnosed. The actor plays him as autistic and says this, the writers accommodate that. So I wish they would have him diagnosed.

I was thinking this before he got back from his train spotting (such a cliché specialist interest, I prefer his interest in bats).

And after it. It's very rare that an NT goes halfway around the country to find an obscure train they're obsessed with. And if they do and then they come back and their friend has called the cops because they're missing, it would make them mortified not just 'oh well then'.

But before - he is a vulnerable man and the cops didn't take it seriously because he's undiagnosed so saying a late middle aged/early old aged man has gone missing and he's a creature of habit doesn't raise alarm bells in the same way it would if she said 'he's autistic and very routine driven and he's just vanished'.

I like that fifasy :), have you changed your name btw?

I have a tendency to see them in every book I read but is Art from Winter by Ali Smith?

He lies but in an aspie way. As if he has a paracosm. And when he plans a scheme like bringing a fake girlfriend home to see his mother instead of explaining a break up, it's easily seen through as if he has little social intelligence.

He refuses to conform and is easily taken advantage of.

He hates to think of himself as part of any group.

As a kid he wants nothing more than his mum to play with him. Not to go out and find playmates. As an adult he still isn't attention seeking and it's all online.

He's pretty stubborn.

He writes in a pedantic manner which isn't just Smith, quite different to the main text. And he's studious in how he writes.

His interest is nature.

Don't tell me if it's confirmed on a page beyond 189. I just want opinions. Probably won't even get those cos everyone reads different books.

And like I said, almost every book has a character who seems a bit aspie to me. Probably because I relate more to book characters than to people I meet cos I see more depth in them. So probably not. But I'm reading it like he is.

I have noticed several characters played by David Tennant has autism:

Tenth Doctor(although he is a Time Lord, so can't be diagnosed)

Barty Crouch Jr-has a tongue tic in the movie, freaked out when Ministry officials grabbed him.

Kilgrave- had a degenerative mental condition, which possibly turned into ASD during the experiment or was part of the condition.

Doug(What We Did On Our Holiday)- their daughter collects big rocks, his wife claims their daughter being "abnormal" comes from him.

Alec Hardy- In season 3, he says "I'm not good at that sort of stuff(interacting with people)". Dislikes being addressed by his first name, calling Miller "Ellie". Generally awkward.

jotaro kujo from jojo's bizarre adventure. I very much empathize with him and it's actually a pretty widely accepted theory in the fanbase which is cool. He has a lot of trouble expressing his emotions and tends to be very blunt and has trouble forming relationships with people. He's a very layered character which is another reason why I think would make sense if he was autistic.
