ymbaai...
youve ever snuck away from your 'neglected' spouse to watch NOVA on pbs

your husband says 'i love you' and the thought doesnt even cross your mind to say it back to him

you unexpectedly see your neighbor, who says 'hi", and you dont even think to reply for at least 30 seconds. then she asks you how you are and you say 'just fine' and sneak back inside whithout asking her how she is (and without caring how she is)

you have been engaged to someone for 3 years and never said 'i love you' to that person. when he said he loves you, you just say "ok'.

you have driven a car for over 5 years and avoided putting gas into because you are scared to try new things so you just waited for someone else to fill the tank

your drivers license has your actual, honest weight because you cant bear to tell a lie

you have ever been undercharged for an item at the store , so instead of returning it at the sevice counter and talking to an actual human being, you just sneak it back onto the store shelf

you have ever gone shopping and the stockboy sees you and says "it not thursday!" because you always go shopping at the same time every week

Today made me think of this one.

YMBAAI when going in for psychological evaluation (I knew what I was doing this time but not last!) and you get asked if you see and hear things others don't and you say yes because you can hear dog whistles and see the grain in paper.

YMBAAI when as a child, your mother sent you upstairs and told you not to move a muscle and came up a couple of hours later to find you standing perfectly still like a statue.

I've got a lot more than that... and I'm almost 24. I used to belong to an Adult Fan Of Lego (AFOL) train club, but the whole social thing kept me from keeping up with it...

You don't hesitate to post about your special interest, and it doesn't bother you when certain people tell you to stop. :)

CockneyRebel,

That applies to me, too! I have three main subjects I talk about here: cats/animals, Roger Bannister and Autism/AS.

Same here. But I don't have certain people telling me to stop obsessing about math curios,
or perseverating the same movies, music, and books. Even if I did, I'll keep right at it!! !

You organize your legos by shape, color, and size; but don't build with them.

YMBAAI you find that mistype hillarious.

I had a conversation recently, where I was talking about the significance of my AS dignosis: "Being told I suffer from Aspergers is pretty much the same as if I told you you suffered from having two legs."

For me everyday is an adventure in those things but in also that ordinary things can seem so extraordinary when you see them in a different light. I don't know that everyone notices how beautiful brick walls are for instance. I've never seen an ode to one.

But of course, there is always "Ode to a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found in My Armpit One Midsummer Morning" by Grunthos the Flatulent. Admittedly, not quite as interesting as a full blown wall full of bricks, in one of the many patterns that have been used over the ages.
