Wash and throw on a baseball cap here, probably four days out of the week. I just don't wanna deal with it. The other three days, I will blow dry it and fluff it up and put some hairspray on so it won't go flat. My hair is thick but very fine, which is like the worst of both worlds.

I have a good stylist, though, and my hair does looks decent with minimal effort. It's just a matter of my not wanting to put in that minimal effort a lot of the time.

Oh, another thing: I did not realize until I was 18 or 19 years old that washing my hair wasn't supposed to hurt. My mom would scratch my scalp really hard with her sharp nails, and once I was old enough to wash my own hair, I thought that was how it was supposed to be done. So all through high school, I washed my hair once a week because I dreaded the pain. The resulting greasy, dirty hair just gave the bullies one more piece of ammo to use against me.

Thank God those days are over. I have soft, clean hair and I keep it that way with a nice chocolate-scented shampoo--yummy!

My hair is highlight, but other than that, I don't do anything to it. I just got a nice new straightner for Christmas, and it looks simple enough when others use one, but my hands just can't seem to figure it out. I also cannot properly put my hair up and have it look nice, so I don't.

I wash it, let it dry (sometimes I use a hair dryer) and brush it. I don't do any hairstyles, just use some hair spray and wear it down. My hair is long, thick and wavy and looks pretty good itself, so why to bother.

I cannot tolerate product in my hair... also I lack the patience or give a damn to actually bother with it. I wash it, brush it, sometimes toss it into two braids if I do not wash it that day... I never understood how people could take up so much time on hair. It seems like such a pointless hassle.

Hmmm, depends on what mood I'm in or what the occasion is. I won't be styling my hair if I'm going to be spending all of my time in my house. If I'm going to a party sure! However I do make the effort to brush my hair every morning even if I'm in a rush to get somewhere

I can't be bothered to have a hairstyle, so I'm just happy with the standard hairstyle.

Yep, I said it - I can't be bothered to have a hairstyle! Can't be bothered! :D

Last time I went to a hairdresser was 1994. I had to go there because my hair had become ONE big dreadlock and I needed help brushing it...
It took ca. 2 hours, and I learned that I didnt want to repeat that experience. I cut my hair myself every 2-6 months, brush it with my hands every now and then and wear it mostly loose. I love my hair, its big and very uncomplicated.

I used to put my long hair into a bun every day just because I don't like random stuff constantly dangling on my neck/shoulders and moving around due to different environmental factors. But the bun really pulled my hair and it often wasn't stable. I got frustrated having to struggle to keep my hair up, so I just cut it. Now it is wash and wear. I don't have to do anything to it anymore except for brushing.

I do my hair whenever I make a video. So, once every couple of months.

Wash and wear, and it always looks frizzy and unkempt. I get the same sorts of comments from my parents, who bemoan how nice my hair might look if I spent more time on it.

I'm male and I have OCD concerning my hair, I work on it once most hours, inspect it, comb it, brush it every hour, straighter it (male straightener), blow dry, conditioner, hairspray, wear a wooly hat to flatten it, use my sisters straightener sometimes, comb again.

I'd better go wash it now..

Is your hair wash and wear? I've read girls with AS don't bother with crazy hair style and such. My dad thinks I should take more time to do my hair I am a female. (that's what he said.) What should I say to this? I agree and drop the topic but I ALWAYS do this! I get my hair done and it looks great the next day it's back to how it looked BEFORE the hair cut. I don't straighten it or use any blower or device. I spray it with water to keep it down and brush it down from there. No gel or devices or any such non sense. My parents use the excuse of a guy meeting me with "my hair" the way it is I say no I wouldn't want a boss/students/potential friend/boyfriend to be turned off by that. What's your take?

My hair is shoulder length so I usually don't do anything other than maybe pigtails. I find it difficult to keep my hair up because I have a hard time with tight elastics, even if they aren't that tight. I usually just keep my hair down because its easier. It's just hassle in the car with the windows down.

This is exactly why I don't bother with going to the hair salon anymore. I'm a black woman who's hair is rather kinky and curly. For years, I did what was expected of all black women and got a chemical relaxer put in it to straighten it. Not only did it barely work after doing it for 15 years, it burned the crap out of my scalp leaving chemical burns each time I had it applied every six weeks.

I decided I couldn't take anymore of the pain and hassle after a particularly painful touch-up and went "natural". I wear my hair in its curly state, washing it then letting it be a big afro or small ponytailed afro puff.

It took a while for others to get used to it and I got some flack from my grandmother. But they're more accepting of it now that they know I'm not going back to straightening my hair.

I discovered, after a surprising visit to a hair salon where the stylist loved hairspray, that if my hair is straightened and then sprayed copiously, it will stay that way for about two weeks. I only need to give it a quick combing in the morning and it is restored to beauty.

So, once every other week, I either go through the procedure of straightening and spraying my hair myself, or I go get it done at a salon. For some reason it never looks dirty or greasy when there is a lot of hair spray in it.

I also recently bought a wig that looks exactly like my own hairstyle. If I have to go somewhere but can't stand the thought of doing my hair, I simply put on this wig and nobody knows the difference. In fact I get a lot of compliments on my hair when I wear the wig.
