How come so many people here treat AS like a race/club?

but doesn't ethnicity indicate ones cultural background more so then their what is referred to as race? or am I thinking of another term. Also I'd say all humans are the same race in the sense that there are alien races, and in fantasy books/movies you have elves, orcs and all kinds of other 'races'.........but at the risk of being politically incorrect they aren't all the same 'species.' for instance you have cats all cats are cats, one cat is not better than another due to its species but they will be different in some ways. With humans we evolved differently based on different environments. Like there is a reason noses have different shapes...humans who evolved in the warm climate of africa did not need to develop the more narrow sharper nose of those who moved up north and had to develop that shape to breath in the cold air for instance.

So I say due to environmental conditions that certain species of people evolved in...there are differences but no ones better then anyone else, but I know sometimes people think if one says species they are also indicating their 'species' is better. Well I'm a mutt anyways just like many others. I don't really care if it's called species, race, ethnicity, differences caused by environments people developed in or any other term, just so long as no ones being a bigot about it.

I'm aware a different "species" is a better term for describing an alien. But the word race has an extreme sounding tone to it which could describe one too(i.e. "The Human Race").

For years I couldn't figure out where all the humans where racing to. I wanted to get a head start.

If there is a next step in human evolution (which there will be some time) - autism and Asperger's is not it.

who needs evolution when you have trans-humanism :hail:

No I was saying species is a better word than race...for humans.

As an added bonus it's a qualifier for ethnic cleansing. Sounds so much nicer than eugenics or genocide.

hmm may have got my terms mixed up actually though...I was thinking of the word for different types of the same animal, like different types of cats. But I don't know there are different species of cats, or if species more would refer to 'is it a dog or a cat?' Anyways trying to think of the word for different types of animals and apply that to different types of humans because to me its the same thing.

Different kinds of the same animal evolved a bit different due to environment, same thing happened with humans so it should be referred to the same in my opinion. If any of that makes sense.

maybe it's breed I am thinking of, but I was wondering more the term for different types of the same wild animal...not sure if people would want to be compared to domesticated animals after all.

Those are breeds, not races or species. Race is an obsolete/flawed/primitive term for genetic clines. Species are generally defined as reproductive communities (ie if they no longer mate, they are different species) although this is not always the defining factor.

I think the most accurate term here would simply be phenotype or phenome.

Well yeah the species thing would not work...but possibly breeds of humans? is it also breeds with wild animals? Your probably right about phenotype being the most correct term though.

(re: the seals. In a recent poll, the Orcas determined that BOTH species of seals were equally...
Tasty! :) )
Interestingly, in some animals like reptiles, interbreeding is still possible, so even our definition of species is not as solid as we used to think..
You know, I have always felt like an alien. Maybe because so many of us feel this way, we form an unwritten/unspoken sort of community? Not sure if this makes enough sense, the way I am trying to explain it.

Sincerely,
Matthew

9 out of 10 Eskimos don't care what breed it is either.
