Pah - my first puter had a 133 processor, 1.5gb HD and 16mb RAM when you were still in nappies :)

...I don't even know what any of those things are...
LOL!! ! That's kind of the point!

1,5 GB Harddrive? I still remember my PC 486/100Hz PC that had 250 MB memory, and 150 MB were needed for windows and other system programs, which kept me left a bit more then 100 MB for games, forcing me to know out of the head how much memory space certain games needed.

Warcraft 2 (34 MB without addon) and Diablo with 70 MB already were on the edge, ^^

all throughout human history, i am sure that many people in their youthful enthusiasm have looked less than admirably at those who have passed into middle and old age.
there is the tendency for people who are newly entering adulthood to believe that their "fresh" appraisals of their world from their own perspectives are superior to the "tried and failed" appraisals of people who are approaching, or have passed into senescence and mediocrity.

but in a geological time frame, the life of any human (or any other being) lasts for an insignificant interval. the whole rise of humans from lower primates, and their millions of generations of propagation all the way to their extinction sometime in the future is likewise insignificant in the eternal scheme of things.

every species becomes extinct. no matter how long it takes.

i wonder who the last human to die will be. in the closing scene of "the human race", who will be the last person to leave the stage?
it will not be you.
you will have anonymously left the story long before, just like the rest of us.

it really does not matter how "now" and "hip" and eminent you are, there will be no trace of you in time to come.
some people's identities endure through subjective history like for example "Mozart".
it may be that the name "Mozart" will be recognized by the final human to die, but with their death, so is the death of any memory or trace of "mozart".

i guess i have not answered the question you asked.

^^^ this is all relevant.
150 years from now, no one who is alive today will be alive. We will have been replaced by an entire new population of humans. 150 years is such a short time.

Why is the local swimming pool always full of old people!

And I mean old...like 60 to 70 years.

A pool full of blue rinses. It is hard to tell them apart from the water sometimes...

At least they don't have to worry about staying in for too long, they are already wrinkly!

I jest, I like old people.

My mum is in her mid 70s and she can out walk most 40 year olds. I know some skiers who can ski like the wind who are in their 80's. In fact Klaus Obermeyer is 94 years old and can still out ski some of the best of us.

In 1962 I was working in, what we called "data processing" for the Hires Root Beer/ Orange Crush company (hated it). Not very sophisticated but it gave us the information we needed. And it was all done by entering the information on small rectangular pieces of stiff paper (i.e. IBM cards) using a sophisticated paper punch. The advantage of this backward model was you were never dependent on phone lines (a.k.a. The internet).

Not too long after, everyone was using Apples and the WWW. Time does fly and I hope you younger people have the knowledge and background to appreciate the effort that's gone before. Maybe 30 or 40 years from now you'll be listening to youngsters say they don't know how you old fogies did it without transporter beams. :D

Keep looking forward,
denny

Wow! Ageist much! As if "old" people don't deserve to communicate on the same issues that everyone else has and that their issues are no less important. Give me a break!

Why should we show respect to old people?

Anyone can get old, all you have to do is live long enough

Wow, you really are ignorant. And I am not saying that to be mean, it's just the fact if you can ask a question like that. And if that is you in your avatar you are very cute, just very ignorant. I hope someone asks you the same question 60 years from now. But I'm not even going to dignify the question with an answer. You will just have to figure it out once you grow up. Again, not trying to be mean so please don't take it that way but if you ask a question like that you kind of walked into it.

Relax, just quoting Groucho Marx. Not seriously being mean. I respect my elders, especially those who have passed on and still live in my memory and family's memory.

I was raised by Grandparents

Edit- Maybe I was being respectful by Quoting Groucho Marx, older than all of us. (Really wish there was a Groucho smilie)

Thank you for clarifying. I have regained my respect for you. You must remember though that this is wrong planet so unless you put your quote in quotation marks and say who it is from and even state your intentions most of us will take you literally. But I am glad you cleared that up. And I am very glad to hear that you respect your elders. That is a good thing. I am sure your grandparents would be very proud of you.

It was my mistake. I forget that I'm the only one who can quote Groucho Marx from his birth to death (REALLY wish there was a Groucho smilie)
