did your swamp friend liked where he was at?

Idunno, I never asked.

Everyone moved out eventually, but his brother still lives in the house he built a little further into the woods.

I'm thinking about getting a sleeping mat for my living room. Then I can sleep Japanese-style. :)

That's what I've been doing lately. I bought a twin-size Emoor futon set with shikibuton, kakebuton, pillow, and covers...it's really nice.

It's definitely not the 3-inches-thick advertised though, so I bought a cheaper foam tri-fold shikibuton to put underneath it.

Altogether, it was about $405, but that's not bad when you consider how much good Western style beds cost (frame, box spring, mattress, pillows, covers, etc).

Yesterday I brought it all upstairs, because it's been getting cold at night, and I miss sleeping with a nice breeze and being able to listen to the outside noises.

Well, I don't do so well in hot weather, since I have other health difficulties;therefore, I could potentially wind up having a heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Either way, I try to carry out many of my tasks & duties which are not that numerous though still conduct them before 10 am and after 4pm as that is the hottest part of the day.
I have managed to sleep in scenarios of excessive heat, as I recall sleeping in my first apartment and at the time my air conditioning system was offline. So, I try to keep cool at all accounts.

The hot weather really is killing me. I hate it.
I can't do a thing like this. When it's 'just hot' I'll go outside in the morning and evening, but when it's 'extremely hot' like now, it just won't cool down enough for me to go outside.

As soon as there is a cooler day I bulk up on groceries. I find cooking very difficult when it's hot, so shopping is a challenge too. I hate it.

Oke, that was the complaining part.

- I have this cooling mat/towel for pets that I use on my pillow. You make it wet, squeeze out all water, shake it, and it stays cool for a long time. Can't sleep without this! It's really an amazing item that I bought for €1,50 in a dump store not far from my house.

- I use a wet towel in my neck when walking around the house.
Whenever it's dry I go to soak it again. I also refill my waterbottle at that time so I make sure I'll drink enough.

- Curtains are closed, windows only open when it's colder outside than inside.

- vent is on. I have a small airco in my bedroom to make it cold before I go to bed.

This helps, but everything is still a nightmare and I hope we go to autumn fast. Love to hear more ideas from people how to get colder/stay colder.

Good luck out there!
