Re the spiky profile : For me it's frustrating that signs of a learning difficulty were never picked up on . I think that was par for the course,though, for someone of average or above intelligence who was at school from the early 60s to mid 70s .
I do know that when it comes to everyday tasks people have , by and large , expected me to be more capable than I actually am . They often don't see beyond the verbal ability.
It does taking interacting with me for a longer period of time , in a less verbally based setting, to notice my weaknesses .
That could also have been picked up on ,the gap between verbal and non-verbal skills, by cognitive tests. I get the impression that such testing happens more frequently in the USA than UK.
