I am afraid to ask for help and where that might lead, I'm very independent. I've handled things my way for so long and a diagnosis means change. I'm not ready.

Here in the UK, a dx is free and could entitle you to benefits, if that wasn't the case I certainly wouldn't have paid for one. If I met someone claiming to be autistic who didn't appear to be I would tell them so and ask more about it (not in a confrontational way). As far as the members here go, they all seem perfectly genuine and I fail to see any incentive to be here other than shared autism.

At the end of the day we have to trust that the vast majority of people here are genuine whether officially or self diagnosed .

Also that the more astute members and the moderators here will be quick to spot and deal with the trolls .

And I have the Hoosac tunnel for sale for $100

I am not sure I understand this post, vermontsavant.

Just asking. I could really be wrong here. Is it supposed to be sarcastic? A criticism of the mods? A put down of autists lacking a professional diagnosis? Or just funny and I missed the point?

I think he's cynically piss taking me.

I might be cynical but I don't know what "piss taking me" is.

I thought so too, but turns out he really isn't per long PM.

@vermontsavant: I think 'taking the piss out of' someone, or some variation of that phrase, in British English means to mock someone.

Sometimes we all get ticked off about things and I know I can express myself poorly in those situations. And I might be doing it right now.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled content.

I may have been mocking the concept that trolls don't exist or are not a real problem.

but no mockery intended to Firemonkey personally.I respect his opinion and maybe he has just had more luck finding friends on this site than I have,so maybe I'm cynical, I respect Firemonkey,he is a good guy

I think trolls exist. I just may trust the mods to weed them out more than you .

As for friends on this site . No friends currently defined
In 63 years I've had less than a handful of friends .

I am not good at getting the subtleties of humour , which is an issue with me and not you .
