Bumped old thread as it seems timely, given the new debate now beginning after the revelations of Hans Asperger and the extent of his later white-washed Nazi collaboration in the dehumanisation of and murder of AS children.

If someone insulted me, my children or my grandchildren like that, I would wipe them from my life instantly, because it seems toxically malicious to me, though perhaps it seems merely funny to you.

I am 100% AS too. Comparison of AS people with zombies is offensive to me, and not a few others here too I would think. Consider yourself a zombie if and as you wish, that's your choice, your self perception perhaps, but applying it to AS people generally is something I think most members would baulk at..

Mild Autistic Spectrum Disorder (I think that's the new term-too broad, I think, as people have issues they feel are not mild at all and it causes them a fair amount of pain and discomfort)

Also, Broad Autistic Phenotype

Wow, I looked way back and saw a thread I had made under a different screen name, one reflecting my primary interest-cats. Actually, I still believe "Cat Syndrome" applies, as cats are generally independent thinkers, very smart and have their own special way of doing things.

I would use a most dominent or impairing traits based label. Something like echolalia touch sensitive autism.

you're contradicting yourself. The two least important traits (both least impairing, and least correlating with the condition) of aspergers, are echolia, and touch sensitivity. Those are just the cherries on top of some, but not even present on most aspie individuals' dysfunction sundae. The sundae itself is social skills impairment ( caused by things other than those two traits you mentioned).

Since the term has already been largely replaced by "high functioning autism without speech delay", or by "type one autism without speech delay", I suppose you could use those terms.

I like cat syndrome, :cat: It's accurate, yet symbolic enough that only we would get it.

Or something more nt like diverse processing complex.
