I'm very proud of my AS. I'm proud to be different. :)

I'm especially proud of my special interests and unique world view.

Seeing that above a signature which says "no rude or nasty replies please" made me laugh.

Seriously, though, having that attitude isn't going to improve anything, is it? No matter how much you dislike it, you will never be able to get rid of it. You might as well concentrate on using your strengths to improve your situation.

About as proud as I am of breathing and defecating. I'm humbled by it. Pride is a reflection of selfishness; pride is nothing to be proud of.

I wasn't being rude or nasty to or about any particular person in this forum - I was just voicing a strong opinion about how I feel about having AS.
I put 'no rude or nasty replies please' as my signature because people on other threads have actually wrote rude or nasty replies about me personally, which upsets me.

And I understand what you're coming from about using my strengths to improve things, but I don't have many strengths. I'm not even acedemically good in anything. The only thing I seem good as is flirting about with men. But I don't think that really gets you far in life in the long run......

I am very proud! It's a part of who I am!
I am self-diagnosed, but also pretty self-assured, and I am sure I have it i some way or another. I don't think you should be resentful or ashamed of who you are, autistic or NT!!
:) all the best

So you don't take pride in your accomplishments ever? You think your efforts are in vain?

What I'm trying to say, is that I see my AS as a gift, because I've learned through rejection to be a caring, gentle and sensitive person. (As I look at everybody with my big, brown eyes.)

I see mine as a gift as well. It's helped me to do what I do, and do it better than everyone else :)

I was thinking of it as an aspect of the tendency to overrate exclusive characteristics or ‘self-determined’ events and to discount the value of others in the service of one's self-esteem.
I feel satisfaction when my efforts are carried into effect. I would place pride at a further point where that is incorporated into an identity, thereby granted undue import, i.e., "I am/have ________," with whatever attendant self-handshaking. I don't think people who are proud are necessarily selfish. The way I put that was inappropriate. It appears not to mean what I think.

There are two types of pride that we can look at here. One is the type people often see as "bad" like with overinflated egos or "I'm better than you." Then there is the second type that I use for saying, "I am proud of having Asperger's." What this type of pride means is a satisfaction of who we are. So...what I am saying is, "I have satisfaction in having Asperger's." That is what many people see as the "good" type of pride.

An inflated sense of pride is a Narcissistic trait.

I do like being on the Autistic Spectrum. I like how inquisitive I am and that I can master certain things without studying that much, like learning how to spell and write. It gives me a thirst for knowledge and a quest for learning I doubt I would have without it. Other people have more of an issue with it than I do. I am perfectly happy with it as long as no one is bugging me about stuff.
