Could be OCD. Does he have any repetetive routines, behaviors or mannerisms?
I suspect his social skills are not that good. He tends to consult his book rather than engage folks in conversation about their lives.
In fact, I hear he has upgraded from the book of life to a superfast database on a unix based machine....

Sounds like my kinda guy.

Finally! I have secured the coveted "last shall be first" spot!
Still not sure how it works.
My experiments work, but it means nothing without replication.

Er, I really wish my perfectionism, or being a**l, didn't make me do this

true that's the html code you receive, but the real code is the php that generates that list.
There are a few hints in previous posts on the matter- gives a few lines from the right module if you care to search.

What i find amazing is that SB2 isn't even on the list.
The odds that a list would be produced and i wasn't logged in at the time must be astronomical.

I did see Namoken on the list. I think the odds of producing a list with neither he, nor i, are on the list must be .0001% probability.

I'd keep an eye out for this myself, but i'd be on that list.

It's possible there were more than 40 people logged in, and that the screen wasn't scrolled down. Fret not. ;)

I'd say he has the session data for each of the users in a database table and the script used to generate the page simply takes a list out of the database and however the entries are entered in the table is how they appear.

I did that on a page I started once... which is very much dead. Hardly gets used anymore, and is long overdue to be completely overhauled.
