I have a cold or something too don't know what it is exactly but my legs ache unless I take tylenol and motrin. I've been a little sick the last three days. I told my mom about it and she said there is no way it could be the Swine flu because we have no cases up here. I guess she has a point.
She said it could be another flu or something else.
My mucus membrains started feeling a bit weird last night, like they do before I get a cold. My legs have been aching some for days and my stomach was upset a few days ago.
There could be something else going around besides that.
If I had a high fever and stuff I would go to ER. Go to the ER and see what they say. They can swab your mouth for tests and give you some of that Tamaflu stuff.

Well, in my city, I heard that if you suspect having this flu, you must go to the Health Department and get a swab thing done. ER is a bad idea, IMO, because you will probably have a long wait. And plenty of time to be exposed to others who might really have it!

This is going to sound funny but if you have a bandana or scarf you can still go to the ER and not infect others. If you have one of those dust masks in your house somewhere you can use that instead. I don't know how late your health department stays open. If you need to go to the ER you can always put a scarf or bandana over your mouth and nose before you go in and maybe that will keep the germs from spreading.
You can always call an ER first and see what they suggest before going.

@poopylungstuffing: Don't worry. This flu isn't that bad. Just take care of yourself and rest. If you start having severe symptoms, heart palpitations, or chest pain, get to an emergency room. Otherwise, see a doctor if you want to or do your usual remedies for flu. Stay away from other people because this strain is very contagious.

Nobody has to worry about dying from this unless you have other health problems, are a small child, or are elderly. People in Mexico are the only ones dying (probably from government neglect). Even the one death in the U.S. turned out to be a baby from Mexico.

The reason everyone is so worried about this strain of flu is that it's a new virus. There's no vaccine available, and no one knows for sure what it's going to do. Also, it's obviously extremely contagious.

They just confirmed 3 more cases in Arizona, 2 in the city where I work. I'm going to keep wearing gloves on the city bus.

Just becuase you are not experiencing the symptoms of the influensa (headache, diharea and respiratory symptoms) does not mean you are not sick. You should really go check it up with a doctor.

You might want to go to a doctor and see if it is Swine Flu if it gets worse. Depends on how bad it is. If there's an outbreak in your area it could be that but there is something else going around right now that's much milder. I know because I have it.
If there isn't an outbreak in your area it's unlikely you have it. The Swine flu is supposed to be more severe than regular flu so if you had it you would be experiencing a high fever, worse than average sore throat and a cough with build up in the lungs. You would prolly know you had it because of that.

A flu by any other name topic

Now the WHO is calling this virus H1N1 Influenza A. It is not spread by pork, swine or pork products.

PEOPLE are the carriers! The pigs and birds are lucky.

I dislike having medical appointments, and sitting in waiting rooms. There is always somebody there that likes to sneeze outright, and make no attempt to cover their nose with a tissue or handkerchief. And the coughing, runny nosed kids. I've got to go to another appointment on Monday. I 'll be sure to take along my hand sanitizer!

I hate going to doc appointments too. First, I am not a schedule type person, so I'm always late. Second, you wait in the waiting room forever so you can go back to the room to wait forever on the doctor. Third, I usually have my kids with me, even when I'm sick, and it's just a hassle to take them places that aren't necessary. So, what do doctors do about this problem? They first require you go to visit, even for simple things like a skin rash where they can't just call in the RX for the cream you have used for years from another doc but since they didn't get to bill you for that visit, they require you to come in so they can bill you for it. And if they are lucky, you will catch something from another patient so you have to go back. Then, they drag out every illness into as many appointments as possible. Which is also why you are constantly waiting because they increase their visits with all patients. If you have something that's not the flu, then they don't know how to fix it or what to think about it, so then they need tests done, so thats another x amount of visits to other doctors or labs or hospital, and then 2 years later, they still have no idea what is wrong with you or how to handle it. So then you research it and find a name for whatever it is that ails you, but then, as usual, there's not much they can do about it. Unless it's a bacterial infection, they can't fix it. So there's really no point in it in the end except to get any pills you think you need. What's even better? Oh, I need my annual pap or visit a dermatologist, so now let's increase visits by health insurance companies forcing you to go to a family clinic just to get the referral, which is costing them more money to do it that way anyway, but who cares? It's just all the more to make health care less affordable.

Basically, there still is no cure for stupidity.

After this I am going to be using more hand sanitizer all the time. One winter I caught something terrible, really bad sore throat, lots of coughing, high fever, and it lasted longer than a cold. That was a couple of years ago. After that I started using more hand sanitizer but got lazy and slacked off some. Now I am back to where I was after that winter. When I use hand sanitizers I don't catch whatever's going around. Life's easier that way.

I just saw the show Brink on the Science Channel... for you non-Americans, that would be one of our 18,976 television channels. Anyways, some expert offhandedly stated that the swine flue is no more deadly, at the moment, that typical flue viruses, statistically speaking. Then they moved on to talk about the science of a vaccination.

I had to rewind on my DVR to make sure I heard correctly.

I understand that the media need to get the message out about this swine flu but I do wish they didn't talk about it constantly everytime we turn the tv or radio on, because it is scaring my 8 yr old Aspie son. He is terrified he is going to get it and die, and we don't even have a single confirmed case here in Australia last time I heard.
